Ever been a victim of crime?
Well only if you consider my failure to win the Leng medal a crime, which I do btw!
So I had my wallet stolen the other day which put me in a crappy position for the next week. My first real experience of crime! Anywho have any of you been a victim of crime and if so what?

My beloved VW Bus was vandalized.
I was also mugged by two guys in the suburbs who seriously didn't think shit through. My roommate gave them a cigar and some gum and I walked home with the several hundred dollars I had in my back pocket. First, they didn't bring weapons. Second, they hadn't counted on my roommate being a good five inches taller and three inches broader than them, which still put me as bigger then them, but him as MUCH bigger. Neither of us are 'tough' guys, so he gave up the gum and the cigars just to expedite things. Oh, and they did it on a major road with plenty of traffic. I was 17-18 at the time. Had they tried that now I don't know that I would even have broken stride...

Uhm... I was the "victim" (I don't like that word) of an attempted rape.
Well, I assume it was an attempted rape. It was dark. He was dragging me into more dark. Thank god (I will be thankful for this for the rest of my life), the bus came when it did. Literally... seconds. It was probably a matter of seconds.
You know how you say you'll scream, or fight, or do all those things? You'll resist *somehow*, you'll kick and claw and make noise? No. It doesn't always happen that way. I was in karate for six years. I had my brown belt. And I froze. Completely. Didn't say a word, didn't move a muscle to resist. Just... let it happen, and thought... this isn't happening.
He took off, I didn't call the police, I didn't do anything about it. I *shrugged it off* and went home. Around a week later, I realised what had almost happened, and to be honest, I almost never talk about it. When I do, I usually make it sound like it wasn't a big deal. And really... nothing happened. But that's only because I was fucking lucky.

Someone tried to break into my house last night. Which was a bit sad, but there you go.
Outside of that, I've been mugged once in Spain, and got beaten up once here in York.
There we go.
I've never been the victim of anything I care about enough to call a crime. I suppose I could say I got beat up once, but I'd be kind of sort of ignoring that I was egging him on and I probably would have gone to court too if I had pressed charges.
Basically, I was making fun of the biggest toughest kid in the entire school for like, two months because it was hilarious. I wasn't really expecting it to tell the truth, I finished my shit-talking, sat down, and continued to eat my lunch. Then he came up behind me and threw me out of my seat, and started to punch my head for a couple minutes. I resisted, but he was punching me while I was on the ground (dick move rite?), and I really COULDN'T get up. The principal eventually pulled him off me, and by then I noticed I broke my nose. When I saw all the blood, I laughed. It was quite the big deal around here, even bigger because no one knew who I was. I was the new kid in the school, did I mention that?
My first real experience of crime! Anywho have any of you been a victim of crime and if so what?I've been on the receiving end of what is called "dangerous assault" over here. A juvenile in the place I used to work threw a stick at my head and hit me with it. The cops later told me that that constitutes dangerous assault on account of the real possibility of my eye being put out.

I'm not sure you could call it theft, but I once left my bag in a taxi (after coming back from the airport after a holiday) and whoever booked the same taxi next took it and never returned it, despite it having several forms of identification on/in it.
I got my pocket picked when I was in Rome. I think it happened when I was on the bus and a surge of people pushed past me so I had to grab onto the pole to keep from falling out the door. It was shitty, but I hadn't been bringing all my money with me so it wasn't too bad.
I got pickpocketed in France two years ago, but I managed to chase to guy down and make him give it back. My hotel room in Germany got robbed too, but whoever robbed it didn't make off with too much...just some clothes and a little bit of cash.
My friend's apartment in Queens got "robbed" a few months ago while I was staying the night. The robber was quite drunk, waving a pistol around and demanding beer. My friend, despite being a dainty little white girl, punched the guy in the face; the robber promptly ran away. It turns out the gun wasn't loaded.

Lucky for her it wasn't, imagine she got shot, which isn't to hard to imagine if he was already drunk, it might have been better to just give him some beer.
When I was a kid I got kicked in the head by another kid. Strangly enough it didn't hurt, just made me dizzy for a few seconds. But I suppose thats not really a crime, so nevermind.

I've prevented two fights, (although it was only teenagers with too much agro i think i deserve a little credit) oh and when i was like 14 i tried to fight another kid who was bullying me, he left me alone after that, then got punched in the nose once while playing football, didn't get a chance to punch back as the "fight" was immediately stopped. Out of the 4 fights i've mentioned i've become friendly with 2 of the people, must be the diplomat in me (or wimp).
Umm i know someone who tried to commit suicide, but the police found the person before it was too late, i think that's sorted out now, i worked with the person, a nice person too.
I've had hate mail, hate phone calls, threats by some nasty guy who was dating my sister (and still is sadly:(, but i won't cry at his funeral, bastard), he suffered from post-traumatic stress, now it's diagnosed as bipolar disorder, my sis still doesn't realise she's dating a nasty guy.
Sorry to bring down the thread guys, just typing out my thoughts.

I was mugged once, they got away with a £5 note and a day-ticket for the buses.
I've been assaulted twice, one walking home from the city centre, I class that one as a draw as he got as much back as he gave. The second time was near where I used to work. I pretty much won that one, not hard when you're almost a foot taller and twice as heavy as your attacker though.
I guess I've been quite lucky so far, knock on wood.

what is this... a contest?
Yes. You win if you were the victim of the most horrible crime.
I don't think I've ever been a crime victim. All the fights I've been in were in elementary school, so my superior size made self defence and retaliation easy.
Assuming that there has to be a victim for a crime to occur... I've smoked cannabis. :D
Had my credit card numbers stolen off my banks website, they used it to purhase $300 + worth of porn on the web.
I used to do websites independantly for people. I was hired to do 30 web templates for $100 each. Upon completion I was presented with a $3,000 check from Bank of America. The check was fake, I was almost charged criminally for cashing it. Fortunaly I had not spent any of the money and was able to provide proof (in the form of e-mail corrospondance and a mailing address) that I was not the perpetrator.
Most major banks will not let me open an account now.

I just try and tell people, when they say, "No, I know I'd scream, someone would hear," that it's so much easier to say before you get in that situation. I'm not saying they wouldn't; I'm just saying you never know. There is nothing that makes of for a lack of common sense and precaution - neither of which I necessarily displayed that night, and like I said, I have no problem admitting that I was damn lucky that night and not much else. Certainly wasn't very smart.
But it's been months, now. I don't think about it too much.
I've had 3 burglaries, 1 unarmed robbery, and 1 armed. In the case of the unarmed robbery, I still think the punk was bluffing about having a knife, and he wasn't big enough to take me without one, but I didn't want to take the risk over a cheap watch.

Im only a teenager so not much could've happened.I've been in one fight against some dirty knacker, that was basically a draw and another knack punched me in the face.
Me and three friends(two were kind wusses and wouldnt help and the other was a girl who at least tried to stop him lol) were walkin down a road in the estate next to ours and these two knacks were behind us a bit and kicked a ball at us but missed for the second time, I turned and said "could ye two wee fellas leave us alone?"(they were a year younger and quite small but fairly tough and agrressive)The irish one told his friend(asian or something) that I called him small, he asked me what I said I repeated it and he punched me, I was dizzy for like two seconds 'cause I didnt see it coming then I laughed and walked on.Then they followed me for ages asking to fight me I kept sayin no and when I reached a dead end I hopped the wall through a field and walked home.
Thats quite a long story

I was drugged and mugged on a beach in Thailand. Two weeks prior to that I had to fight off about six Vietnamese prostitutes as they attempted to pickpocket me and my very, very drunk friend. Apart from that, only ever small stuff like getting jumped in a town centre whilst with a group of mates and being decked in a club.
