When Hargraves came on for Saha, I hadnt a clue what fergie was thinking but the 4-3-3 formation really liberated rooney and ronaldo.

*referring to Gemlakra as a 'scummer' or 'scum' is not a rude attempt to get myself forum banned, but merely reflects standard accepted terminology used by Pompey and Saints fans to describe each other; 'SCUM' is usually held to be an acronym referring to a group of picket-busting union workers from Southampton who helped break up a strike in the Portsmouth docks in the 1930s.

My friend is a city fan. I was out of the country when city were playing united in august and the first thing I heard about it was a text from him....

Why would a londoner support United. If they are glory-hunters, surely arsenal and chelsea are closer.

We got knocked out ages ago...thankfully! We need to concentrate on getting back into the Championship and then the Premiership.

In other news...Drogba wants to leave Chel$ki...

Considering your away record when you travel to a stadium in the same country, I shudder to think what your away record is going to be like in europe..
In also seriousness though, it's a remarkable turnaround, at the start of the season I thought you were in for the drop.

Lastly, Lution 1-1 Liverpool.

Aha! I do genuinely love the United side at present. Much as I think it would be enriched by Berbatov, and that Saha, Fletcher and Silvestre are awful, I have watched United for upwards of 10 years, and cannot recall having seen as much raw talent in one side. Anderson, Nani, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and the likes of Pique behind them are all refreshingly talented, possessing a spontaneity and ability that onl;y bodes well for our future.

Incidentally, fuck the FA cup. I'd sooner win the Premiership or Champions Legaue than the the FA cup.

United have never had a better Premier League team than they did in the mid-late(ish) '90s.

Cantona, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Keane, with Cole, too...every one of them was the best at their job in the league, and they combined to make a truly frightening midfield/attack. The best United have had in the Premiership. I'd still rank Cantona as one of the best players the Premiership has seen. And with Schmiechel as a goalkeeper they were always safe.

And don't forget players like Gary Neville, Denis Irwin, Butt, Solksjaer...all the "secondary" players who were still brilliant in their day.

If you lot get Berbatov I think im gonna fookin cry...hopefully Chelsea will temp him with their millions...dont discount us in the race either...reports have said we are willing to pay him 120,000 a week and easily match tottenhams asking price...you forget we are billionaires too these days ;-) plus we have Petrov and Bojinov his bulgarian mates...

Berbatov wants to play consistent Champions league football, and do so with the best players in the world. At the age of 26/27, any transfer he makes now must be one that will immediatly satisfy theses ambitions, and at present, City cannot do that.

I agree in principle, however, the current team have the potential to be far better. Ronaldo is every bit as good as Cantona ever was; statistics suggest this, and watching the two play is equally suggestive.

That said, we've never replaced Schmeichel fully. He did save us countless times, however, the current defence is probably better than that of the late 90's.

Ahh how the hell did they only manage a draw with a team in Division one, oh well at least we know that Riise wont score another own gaol. And my soft team Scunthorpe lost to Preston North End 1-0.

As for other big names out of then FA cup: Bolton lost to Sheffield United 1-0
Blackburn down to Conventry 4-1
Everton gone due to a 1-0 loss Oldham

No one is talking about it, but it would be the best FA cup tie this season by a long way!

Never mind the fans of the invisible man...I often wonder whether Manchester City have become the invisible club to certain individuals...

As the blues returned to the fourth spot they have occupied for most of this season following a stunning win at Newcastle... it seems the national media... be it TV... radio... or writen word... just cant see City's name in the Premier League table.

I know I'm not alone by allowing the likes of Richard Keys... Gary Lineker and Mike Parry to occasionally infuriate by blatantly overlooking City and perhaps my New Year's resolution should be to rise above it all - But when the mighty blues dont get the credit they deserve, it pisses me off

How many times have you seen the league table televised... with City sitting prodly in fourth spot... only for whoever is presenting the general round up to say something like 'Arsenal's win keeps them top, Manchester United still two points behind with Chelsea in thrid. Liverpool drop fifth, 11 points adrift of the leaders." Eh? Arent they forgetting somebody? What about Manchester City in FOURTH? That would be one above fifth...

You do make a valid point, and I do really hope you get fourth place. Primarily because of the implications for Liverpool, but I do feel that the Premiership will only be enriched by the success of the likes of City, Spurs and Portsmouth.

I don't know about berbatov, if we get a new striker, I would like an out and out striker. Personally I wouldnt mind going for Martins from newcastle. He'd be relatively cheap and would make a good back up. I think if we bought berbatov, he probably wouldnt come unless he was certain of being a relatively frequent starter and that would break up the rooney-tevez partnership. Not that I would be complaining if we got berbatov.

I think it's because there is the perception that city have hit their glass ceiling and realistically until you sort out your away form you have. At the moment, the only club I can see you forcing out of the top 4 would be liverpool simply because they seem to pick up the most draws.

As much as I'm glad to see the smaller teams do well, I feel bad for blackburn. Blackburn would be a team that I like to see well and after starting well at the beginning of the season, they are going through an terrible patch.
