What do you think? this year has the potential to call for social change just like it did fourty years ago.
The 2000s haven't been like the 1960s in other respects... why in this one?
But here's to the RNC being welcomed to Saint Paul, Minnesota in style. :)

You can call for social change any year. Free speech, 1st amendment.
Doesn't mean anyone wants to listen

Not enough smelly hippies around these days. Groovy man.

Yeah, and there are other reasons why it won't happen, but I wondered why the OP thought it would come back.

Must be the Colonel Mustard with the breadknife who killed him...what? oh there's other people.;)
oh um seeing as i wasn't alive then i'm not sure if i would do a good job in recreating 68, i suppose i could try to bring back the cold war and vietnam, and no equal pay for women, yes really good time then.:(:fluffle:

When did that change?
Well in the UK equal pay acts was 1975 although even now it probably isn't in force fully in the UK.
Or the sex discrimination act 1983, i'm not sure about the US or any other countries for that matter.
The real question is whether there's another Alexander Dubček to initiate the change...
Back in 1968, Charles Manson was preparing for quite a few shocking acts of heinous brutality, by the way. Edwards21 probably didn't have that in mind, but it's just one of many possibilities when you expect history to repeat itself.
Not to mention it took 20 long years for the goals of the Prague Spring to finally be recognized...only to have the very system itself collapse a few years afterwards.

Things could get better, but things could also escalate horribly when the powers in charge the least expect it. Reality is a harsh mistress.
