Market Nationalism is Ethically self-contradictory?

Well, my statement is rather succinct, but my point is to generate discussion on this topic. Would people agree that to be a 'nationalist' at the same time as supporting free market economics, is ethically self-contradictory? Free market economics naturally creates 'regional' or 'global' systems of exchange and a transnational dependence of foreign capital, is it contradictory to support this at the same time as being a nationalist?

Yes, it is.

But that won't stop people from being market nationalists anyway. It's probably neither the first nor the last contradictory political position they support.

Yes, and it often results in damage to the free market...our beloved corporate and agricultural subsidies are rooted in this very sentiment.

Of course, it's both theoretically and practically contradictory.
