Hows 2008?

Well for all you NSGers in different time zones, hows 2008? I mean, it is the future. Do they have flying cars yet, did they land on Mars? Who wins the Iowa Cacaus? Yeah,I'm still over in 2007, which sucks by the way. All you guys in New Zealand and Japan, and Korea are already in the future. (Should I prepare for a hostile take over by Robots?) All the Europeans are gonna have New Years at least 5 hours ahead of me.
So just waitin' for the ball to drop. Speaking of which, there are people probably already camping out in Times Square.
But in all seriousness HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I wanted to wish you all a happy, healthy, new year!

Hey Junii, you're gonna be the last NSer in '07. Unless someone here lives on the very western edge of Alaska.
Heres some pictures from image searches and the Jib Jab Year In Review (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ztj2qfui114).

It's true. No flying cars yet. But considering the way people drive, I think I know where the holdup is. ;)
I think 2008 is the Year of the Solar Panel. I have a feeling that a breakthrough is going to make them go bananas. In fact, I have money riding on it(stock). *nod*

'08? I'm already in 2020. Andy Rooney is President, but nobody knows how he's still alive. Not much changed there. The robots didn't take over Earth, but the war in Marsistan is getting messy. The war in the Middle East ended back in 2010, when Switzerland got fed up and bombed the place to the ground. And the '08 election is won by Pat Buchanan. Oh, and the Rolling Stones are doing another tour.

It's just dinner time on December 31, 2007, where I am, and instead of tucking into a sumptuous feast of hot and sour soup, shu-mai, lobster and chicken with eggplant, and sour apple martinis with family and friends at my favorite Chinese restaurant, I'm home sick with flu, typing to you guys. I spent the past 12 hours debating with everyone whether I should go out or not, but the certainty that I would end up relapsing and getting bronchitis to start the new year off with made me chicken out and decide to slide quietly into 2008, under the radar of fate. ;)
So, um...(*quietly*)...Happy New Year! :D
5 mins to go......

To early to play the final countdown?

You know, before I moved to the Boston area, where this great restaurant is (Chang-sho, in Cambridge, in case anyone's ever in the area), I used to ring in the New Year by giving people tarot card readings. So if anyone wants to get one tomorrow, let me know now. :D

2008 had been sucky so far. :(
Well I went to work today and its been a bit of a bad day:
Went to work at 9:30 after a couple hours sleep. (Bad times)
The supervisors were still a bit drunk ad let me home early (Good times)
My wallet got stolen so everything I need I now lack. (Very bad times)

2008. The year my daughter gets a job and moves out? Oh please, let it be.
2008. The year I finally get my act together and have a perfectly clean house and a perfectly balanced checkbook with money left over. I know, I'm dreaming.
2008. The year the Rockies not only go to the Series, but win it.
2008. The year my son meets the perfect girl and she actually decides that he's perfect.
Aah, 2008.
2008. The year global warming sceptics will finally shut the hell up in the face of mounting evidence, rather than cry 'conspiracy' at every new event?
Somehow, I doubt it. :(

remember your children love you even when they misbehave.
and that even though they mean it when they scream "i hate you", they love you again 5 minutes later when the incident is over.
partying => sleeping => visiting grandparents => NSG => reading => sleeping
the first 24 hours of 2008 could have been worse.
I don't know what I wish for myself for 2008. Maybe a girlfriend, getting started with some hobbies I was planning to pick up, better results for school ...
But more of the same would be nice too.

Been in '08 for about 13 and half hours. And everything is so different. The date for one. Yesterday was sunny, and today's damp too.
Hopin' the Yanks will take the series this year. And I like to see the Patriots get crushed. Best scenario the Dolphins somehow get to the Superbowl by default and beat the Pats 300 to 0.
And I'm expecting a lot of Jolt time warps for the first 24 hours.

OK, JuNii, here is your tarot reading for 2008. Sorry for the delay, but it turned out, while sufficiently vague, also more complicated than I expected. But, as we say in the futures racket, better late than never. :D
Since you didn't ask for a private reading, and since this is vague enough to apply to anyone or anything, I'm posting it here FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. (disclaimer). :D
AHEM. (ahem)
According to the Spirits of Tarot (tm), 2008 will be both good and bad. Positive energy for prosperity and the accomplishment of goals is available, but beware of misdirection and interference in your plans, which will also be everywhere. Stay mindful of your own goals and also of your own inner conflicts to avoid losing your way. Especially be extremely careful about who you do business with, whose advice you take (ironically ;)), and what authorities you rely on. Charlatanism, liars, and interpersonal conflicts are a constant theme throughout the year. Another constant theme is that you must be prepared to lose in order to gain.
Seasonal Breakdown:
Winter (1st quarter): 2008 begins with a great deal of positive energy to invigorate personal projects and plans, encouraging you to turn dreams to practical application. Beware of bogus information, messengers or offers of help, and also of your own inertia or fear of change.
Spring (2nd quarter): Interpersonal conflicts and inner conflicts come into play in a big way. You may experience much loss and unhappiness, but if you maintain your own inner calm and open heart and mind, you will find healing, and the ability to make or maintain peace and keep your life on track despite set backs. The crises of spring could leave you stronger if you handle them right, but it may be a bitter season.
Summer (3rd quarter): Things are rather in a mess but good omens and fertile energies are still strong. Inconsistency is the greatest danger. Beware of a false friend, leader, or advisor. You will lose what seems like a great deal, but if you keep yourself on track, your goals will progress significantly. What you lose, though the loss may hurt, will turn out to be things you didn't need, or even things you needed to be rid of.
Fall (4th quarter): You enter this period feeling more on top of things than before. Optimism and personal energy are driving forces. You may receive good news. Official systems can be much more supportive and useful, but do not rely on them completely. Weakness and ill-will are still present, this time directly associated with authorities. However, the realization of happy conditions is at hand -- comfort, prosperity, and a positive outlook are attainable.
Overall, much good can be found in 2008, but it will be a year-long struggle to make it happen, with potential for hurtful conflicts and personal loss along the way. However, the potential rewards are good enough to be worth the effort. The key will be self-reliance and a clear view of one's own goals, because outside leadership will be lacking. What's out there is yours for the taking, but no one will help you get it, and the potential for failure is always there.
:)
