Not really - when we had this big invasion of our region a few months ago I had to stay awake forever to find out when update was and it turned out to be around 7am - 8am GMT+1 (well, German time, anyway, I don't recall if the invasion was during summer or winter time). It also didn't happen at the exact same time every day, just in the general vicinity of 7-8am...

The game used to update at 3-4 AM and 3-4PM GMT+8 (when I first went on here), now I think updates at around 1-2 AM and 1-2PM GMT+8. I think...

I obviously don't know for sure but I really don't think it updates twice a day. It certainly didn't use to and the UN people would go bonkers if their proposals got dealt with at that rate.

Brutland and Norden is subscribed to 2 issues per day, and they arrive 12 hours apart. Needless to say, almost all other updates, including population and stuff, updates (roughly) 24 hours apart. ;)

Oh, now I get it. But do they also go into effect every 12 hours? Or do they stay around and then go into effect together, at the same time (presumably the one daily update time)? Because if they only arrive twice a day doesn't mean that's an update, it just means that that's when your issues arrive. I'd think.

When do the updates run? What do they do? How long do they take to complete?

There are two update times, which (regardless of any official terms) I call the "major update" and the "minor update". During both updates, any issue choices made by your nation are processed and for nations set to two issues per day (or per weekday), an issue is placed in there issue box. Extra things happen only during only the major update. First off, the Delegacy of a region can only change hands during this time. Also, the UN rankings are updated during the update (as it cycles through the regions) and the new list is posted at the very end of the update.

Update times:
Major: Between 2 to 4 AM EST in my experiance - Exact ending time is variable, but can be verified by the new UN Rankings being published.
Minor: I haven't figured out when this has been ever since the Jolt move, but I'd guesstimate between 2 to 4 PM EST.
