Another good one is The Jambalaya Cajun Band, who have also imported some other elements into their music...

Zydeco is a Creole form which has a lot of elements in common with Cajun, and there is some intermixing between the two... It is also common for some bands in both the Cajun and Zydeco circles to play in both types of bands, or for bands to play both types of music.

Pretty much yep. If you go back 70-80 years ago, they were virtually the same thing, but have diverged a bit. Modern Cajun and Zydeco have some slightly different influences - Cajun has more of a Country/Western influence and Zydeco has more of a blues/rock influence. Also, Cajun usually has a fiddle while the frottior (rubboard - a shootoff of the washboard) is the distinctive Zydeco instrument.

The quote at the top of my sig is from The Jambalaya Cajun Band's song "Le Jig Cadien" (The Cajun Jig) which incorporates a rombo style... Though most of the band's songs are very much traditional... They do some new stuff, or a Cajun variance of some older country (J'Aimerais Avoir Cette Danse/"Could I Have This Dance", which is a Cajun translation of the Murray hit done by Terry Huval is a good example) as well... But throughout there are some good Cajun songs with more Bluegrass or Texas Swing traditional styles such as "Oh, Ma Belle", "La Plus Mauvaise Belle Mere", "L'Accordeon Qui A Fait Le Monde Danser" as such, which you would love....

If you like the older stuff then another couple of names worth checking are Nathan Abshire and D.L. Menard...

been on a myspace jaunt through the artists mentioned...though to be fair alot of them were not listed...a couple of personal faves stand out at the moment and thats Leo Soileaus 'Criminal Waltz' and of the newer artists I really like Clifton Cheniers 'Jole Blon' in this particular track which has made me realise why im attracted to the genre...is the constant...almost bpm(beats per minute) like rhythm which really appeals to me
