Story Arc that you hate?

Almost every MMO has a story going on, whether it's about finding and saving the queen before the evil ogres eat her, or about finding new and unexplored space, or in my case with Matrix Online, *sigh* we have yet, another villain.

Ever since the Matrix Online has started we've had a common villain to fight to save the Matrix from. First there was the Assassin, then there was Anome and his people, then there was The General. Three villain who rose up to try to mess up the peace that was between Zion and Machine and within a few chapters were dead or deleted.

Now after The General, the machines found that Zion has been building a secret fortified base deep underground and thus they violated the truce, which means the truce was over and the war was on again. It was awesome at first, I mean Zion vs. Machines again, Cypherites vs. EPNs and the Merovingian was there to take advantage of the war, it was awesome. However, that really only lasted about one chapter. Hell the "villain of the week" got at least a chapter an a half, the freakin war only got one chapter!

So now we are in chapter nine, and is it about the war, nope, once again we have someone that is a "threat" to the system and the Matrix. This time his name is called "The Intruder" because apparently he's a freeborn that can jack into the Matrix (never mind the fact that freeborn can't even use a jack...) also he can control machine programs as well as exiled programs. Apparently he was a test subject of the machines for the next version of the Matrix simulation and he escaped.

Now you may think "But Wilgrove, a guy who can control programs, jack in while being a freeborn and who was a test subject for the next Matrix, he sounds awesome!" I would agree with you if I didn't think that this dude was yet another "Villain of the week" that all orgs are to ban together to defeat, never mind that we are at war!

If I was the writer for the Matrix Online, I would be more interested in the interaction between Orgs, before the war and during, and Hell, I would keep the war going for as long as I could, I would create the "war feeling" that was missing from the end of Chapter 8. I'm talking like secret meetings, espionage, having groups of Zionist fight against Machines in an event and whoever won in that event determine where the war goes. It would be awesome. So far we haven't had any of that....

So the Story Arc that I hate would be the "Villain of the week" story Arc. How about you guys?

What is it with your Matrix obsession? I don't really care, but you've been creating threads on the subject and it's getting old, in large part due to the fact that the Matrix sucked.

What is it with you and having something up your ass that makes you more bitter than me?

Haha, you think I'm bitter. That's cute. But really, get over the Matrix already. There are other "cool" movies out there that aren't so five years ago.

Maybe he felt sorry for you, because no one else is interested in the Matrix MMO...

Why do you even post in here? I didn't mention Religion, homosexuality, or Christianity.

Why do you even post in here?

Because that's what one does in discussion forums, if you hadn't realised it yet. Someone starts a thread. Others respond. Not that terribly complex a concept to fathom, one should think.

I didn't mention Religion, homosexuality, or Christianity.

No, you just beat your own equestrian corpse.

By the by, "religion" covers "Christianity" - tautology is so gauche.

Yes, but rational people....oh well...never mind....

I have a theory about you, I think I know why you're this way. Part of it is that the only way you can get any kind of attention is by pissing on someone else's parade. Someone wants to talk about their favorite game, you piss on it. Someone wants to talk about their religion or how they found Jesus, you piss on it. Hell even an uplifting story about how homosexuals in my country are getting more equal rights can cause you to piss on it. It's really one of the ways anyone would ever pay attention to you.

Another way is for you to act like this oppressed homosexual from Sweeden because your mommy dragged you to church one too many time, or maybe the guy you really had the hots for was a Fundamentalist who tried to turn you straight, whatever it doesn't matter. The point is, you play up this "oppressed" homosexual on NSG along with pissing on other people's parade so that everyone can pay attention to you and look at Fass.

Now why do you have this desire for people to look at your post, or to even pay any kind of attention to you, well I have several theories on that, from a neglectful childhood, to well you not been laid since the Challenger blew up. If it's the former, then I'm sorry for a fucked up child hood, I am. However if it's the latter, well I am going to send you $50 American via Paypal, and well I want you to go to town on it, Hell go see a strip show, go to the red light district, do whatever you want to. Just have a night of fun, on me.

My theory would have more to do with a bladder problem or too many drinks.

I'm going to have to say (to get back on topic) the whole expansion story arc in World of Warcraft bugged me. The writers really screwed the pooch on that one. Going against established lore, ignoring story line elements. It was bad.

Yes, but rational people....oh well...never mind....

Oh, now I'm disappointed. You were so close to wading into a territory of which your knowledge is so limited, but you stopped yourself. Too bad, your "reasoning" on "rationality" could've offered some comedic relief.

I have a theory about you,

Oh, I seem to have spoken too soon - a "theory"! My, my, this should be worth a couple of giggles, at least.

I think I know why you're this way. Part of it is that the only way you can get any kind of attention is by pissing on someone else's parade.

I can get attention in many other ways. I can start my own parade. I can help decorate someone else's. I can convert a parade into a week-long series of seminars and so on. You really do underestimate my ability to garner attention, despite the fact that you lavish me so with it. Reluctantly so? I'd wager only in a Shakespearean sense.

Someone wants to talk about their favorite game, you piss on it.

If it sucks, yes. What part of "discussion forum" is it you're getting lost with?

Someone wants to talk about their religion or how they found Jesus, you piss on it.

Of course, since religion uniformly sucks. Again, what part of "discussion forum" is it you're getting lost with?

Hell even an uplifting story about how homosexuals in my country are getting more equal rights can cause you to piss on it.

It depends on the context. Are you trying to use very minor advances as an undeserved opportunity to pat yourselves on the back? That's mostly the case.

It's really one of the ways anyone would ever pay attention to you.

First you say it's the only way, and then you change your mind and realise that I have many other ways that people give me attention and this claimed way of yours is just "one of the ways" - probably because you remembered yourself engaging in some of the other ones. Tardy, but it's nice to see the change of claim.

Another way is for you to act like this oppressed homosexual from Sweeden

I'm not oppressed in Sweden.

because your mommy dragged you to church one too many time,

My mother never dragged me to church. Neither did my father. I grew up in a nominally atheist household.

or maybe the guy you really had the hots for was a Fundamentalist who tried to turn you straight, whatever it doesn't matter.

The only fundamentalists I've had anything to do with were the type that suck cock behind their wives backs. Guilt sex, mmmh...

The point is, you play up this "oppressed" homosexual on NSG

No, only in your imagination, seemingly.

along with pissing on other people's parade so that everyone can pay attention to you and look at Fass.

If I piss on your parade, it deserves to be pissed on. If you don't want other people telling you what they think of the things you like - and perish the thought, not like them! - perhaps you shouldn't start threads in a discussion forum, but instead get a blog with comments turned off? That way, you could write anything you want and no one would be able to bother you with their pesky opinions that hurt your fragile feelings so.

Now why do you have this desire for people to look at your post,

It's not a desire more so as it is a direct consequence of posting to a discussion forum. That's what happens - people read posts and reply to them. I've already dealt with your issues on that and offered you a remedy, if it bothers you so, this complex concept.

or to even pay any kind of attention to you, well I have several theories on that, from a neglectful childhood, to well you not been laid since the Challenger blew up.

The Challenger? What's that?

If it's the former, then I'm sorry for a fucked up child hood, I am.

My childhood was wonderful - summers in the archipelago, winters in the North under the aurora... *nostalgic sigh*

However if it's the latter, well I am going to send you $50 American via Paypal, mand well I want you to go to town on it, Hell go see a strip show, go to the red light district, do whatever you want to. Just have a night of fun, on me.

50 USA dollars? Haven't you gotten the memo; they're worthless nowadays. Besides, I'd hate to take money, no matter how little, from the less fortunate whose feelings seem to ache so. Perhaps you should save them for a future skin graft for yourself?

I hate story arcs that involve rescuing princesses and such, it just feels as if I've wasted much of my youth appeasing fantasy women who (by that western "she must be strong and confident" rule) can perfectly look after themselves and me

maybe I game where I have to be rescued for a change

I can convert a parade into a week-long series of seminars and so on.
