Huckabee to Jamie Lynn: You Go, Girl!

Everyone has an opinion on this week's news that Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant. (Over 62,000 readers responded to an Usmagazine.com poll on whether Spears is setting a bad example; the results were split.)

Even Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee – a Baptist minister and the former governor of Arkansas – entered the fray.

"It's a tragedy when a 16-year-old who is not really prepared for all the responsibilities of adult life is going to be now faced with all the responsibilities of honest-to-goodness adult life," he told CBS News in Iowa.

"Apparently, she's going to have the child and I think that is the right decision, a good decision, and I respect that and appreciate it," Huckabee continued. "I hope it is not an encouragement to other 16-year-olds who think that is the best course of action."

"But at the same time I'm not going to condemn her," he said. "I just hope that she will make another right decision and that's to give that child all the love and kindness and care that she can."

This kind of post is getting old. You can't just print and link an article and have only "thoughts?" as your contribution. You need to at least tell the forum where you stand, or provide a basis for further discussion. This is little better then walking by a cashier at a supermarket, seeing a tabloid near the register, and reading a headline.

Oh, yeah, and who gives a rat's ass?

Thanks for the responses, maybe next time you 3 can saying something.

Oh and to the dude above me, I can do whatever I damn well please, don't like it tough. I found this interesting so I posted it. Nobody made your ass read it or reply, so don't bitch over a choice you made!

Part of the rules of NSG are that there should be no copy/paste article spam. You must give your thoughts on it. Silly goose :)

The choice I made, you rude person, was to inform you that the actual POLICY for threads in general is to NOT be spam. Spam involves posting something without so much as a complete sentence to start any discussion or debate on the topic. We don't even know what topic you'd like us to "think" about, okay? Now, you can provide the thread with some direction, or you might just possibly see it shunted over to the spam locker. Personally, I don't care, but at least I wasn't moved to act like a jackass about it.

You did act like a jackass about it, so you got a response deserving of it! And you are not a mod and it's not your job to inform me Ngquza.

Am I rude? Yes.......

Who. Flocking. Cares?

My sentiments exactly.

although I do like the fact that he's supporting her decision and not condeming her for her situation as most people here did.

Cryptic Nightmare, what are your thoughts about it?

Thoughts about Huckabee and what he said? He can suck it as far as I care, I couldn't give a fuck what he says, after he loses the nod he will vanish forever and a day anyway. I thought maybe somebody here care, or atleast find it interesting.

Actually, my first thought was Jamie Lynn who?

then while reading the article... so is Huckabee the father?

Then my last thought after reading the article but before reading the thread was bah, just a bid to get the younger generation's vote...

I don't think anyone who was ragging on Spears the Younger was ragging on her for her situation so much as the base irony present in A) her mother's now foiled attempt to get a Christian parenting book published, and B) the fact that abstinence-only education (the young couple met at a Christian school) now has a very public failure to illuminate all the other failures in this policy that seem not to matter to the current administration.

Huckabee's a former preacher looking to secure the as-yet-not-fully committed fundie vote. Of course he's going to support her in the most evangelical way possible.

Yep. However it still doesn't make me give a flock... and, as I said in that J L Spears thread... I just hope she raises that kid better than how her older sister is raising hers. :p

I doubt this would help. Maybe in the south in those trailer parks, but as a whole no.

You raise an interesting point. Whatever happened to public humiliation? Every time a judge tries it (there was a woman made to wear a sign that read "I stole" at some point a few weeks back), someone reports it and it gets overblown as if it were worse than execution. I think those who steal should be forced to wear clothing that advertises that fact for the length of their probation...or at least bring back some ergonomically-correct version of the stocks.
