What's your favorite song from the 80's/90's period (back when we were free from the plague of Soulja Boy)?

I have to say that this is my favorite:

This song, among others:
Jumper - Third Eye Blind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwfAKFg-0-Y)

Among many others, I believe it's Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kPQR-OsH0RQ).

So there.

Is it because most of them are foreign? I like some rap songs from the 90's (which was the era that I was born in), but the majority of the songs I like from that era aren't rap. Such as Heut'ist Mein Tag.

That reminds me - this song is a great 80's song:

I can't pick just one. It's like asking me to choose a favorite oxygen molecule, for such favorite songs are both numerous and life-sustaining.

I'll keep the list short, though.

"Shake You Donkey Up", XTC
"Hyperactive", Thomas Dolby
"11 MPH", Was (Not Was)
"Workin' for a Livin'", Huey Lewis & the News
"Credit", Tower of Power
"Out of the Business", The Tubes
"Goodnight Saigon", Billy Joel
"And She Was", Talking Heads
"Underground", Men at Work
"One Night in Bangkok", Murray Head
"Something About You", Level 42
"Walking in L.A.", Missing Persons
"Heartache Tonight", The Eagles
"Gaucho", Steely Dan

That's all this mood, this week. And yes, that's as short a list as I can make. Thank you for your time.

But yea, the Goldfinger version is ace, and I'm sure there are other decent cover versions.

Seconded times a million. I bloody adore that song.

My favourite 80s song is probably... hmm. I'm a big fan of 80s, actually, it's hard to choose just one.

"Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House is a big fave.

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears For Fears is excellent.

"William, It Was Really Nothing" is an old favourite of mine.

"Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley was, ironically, one of my ex's favourite songs, which he chose as "our song", before promptly taking off. I can't listen to it right now, but I used to love it. :p

90s would probably include:

A lot of BSB. Backstreet Boys, my loves. That's where it's *at*.

"High Above Me" by Everclear brings back ton of memories.

"Crash Into Me" by Dave Matthews is a 90s song, and it's my favourite song of all time, but it doesn't strike me as "stereotypically 90s". I think of more pop songs.

"Mr. Jones" by Counting Crows is a good one, too.

And OF COURSE, can't forget "Baby Got Back". Clearly. ;)

I had been looking forward to it for a while, but he has extremely low esteem of americans (not that we've shown a lot of sense in a while).
My god. I am in awe of that man. It's best to stay with his writing. In person, he's quite testy.
If you haven't already, catch "Salmon of Doubt", and read the part about when Townshend was telling him to unbunch his knickers about his HGTTG fans .... that's the closest apology myself and my friend got for that particular night. :(

Aww... I hate finding out that people I admire are actually jerks in person. Oh, well. I'll stick to the "brilliant author" bit of admiration, then. (To be honest, I haven't read nearly as much of his work as I should... mostly bits and pieces here or there, parts of books when I get a chance to pick them up. He's one of my favourite authors to quote, but in terms of sitting down and reading a whole work through, I'm sadly, sadly lacking. It's always, "When I get a chance to read books other than course texts...")
