They made fun of the U.S. Godzilla in one of the last films.

In fanfic, popular idea is that the U.S. Godzilla might be the female of the species.

Dudes, it's obvious that the Japanese Godzilla would win. He doesn't just have fire breath, he has radioactive fire breath.

One of the attendees at the film's Los Angeles premiere was 'Patrick Tatopoulos' , the creature designer and supervisor for Godzilla (1998). Tatopoulos said that he felt honored that the creature he designed was featured, albeit in a rather inglorious role, in an official Toho Godzilla film.

As a treat to die-hard Godzilla fans, the namesake title monster from the much-maligned Hollywood box-office fiasco, Godzilla (1998) (directed by Roland Emmerich), makes an appearance in this film as Zilla (or Jira, short for Gojira), an assassin monster engineered by the aliens from Planet X to kill Godzilla. When director Ryuhei Kitamura announced this at a press conference in late August, he said that he named the Hollywood version Zilla for his film, because he felt that the 1998 film "has taken the 'God' out of Godzilla." yea untill he kinda died via missles. speaking of smarter the fish sceene where godzilla looked the guy in the eye would an animal even try that? ever? i mean if one of the baby godzillas was raised by humans (don't even ask because i don't know how, but i am getting a triassic park feeling though) i would slightly see, but one raised in the wild wouldn't even be plasuible.

In addition to the overt mention in Final Wars, I read Godzilla 2000 as a treatise on the American Godzilla. An alien (foregener...firefox spell check says that's right...) takes the DNA of Godzilla (the idea) and makes it's own version, absorbing the data (the heritage) of Tokyo in the process and then, in the end, tries to consume Godzilla whole.

Who of course gives him radioactive heartburn and blows him to shit. Because Godzilla rules. Japanese Godzilla.

Someone actually figured out how the Oxygen Destroyer worked. It would have converted the water into pure hydrogen peroxide. That'd skeletonize anything.

there was one movie where they actually did show Miniya actually undergo a growth spurt to become the new Godzilla when papa finally died. Can't remember which one tho.

Considering the American Godzilla was basically a modern interpretation of the original Japanese B&W movie inteded to be self-contained with no connection to Toho's continuity at all that's not a very accurate measure of how the creature can stand up to other beasts, and Toho's Dan-ish treatment of the creature in its films is undeniably biased.

Dude. Have you never seen any of the Godzilla games? SNES, N64, GC, Wii (one comes out soon). At least two games on each (except the Wii, which gets one soon), and thats only for Nintendo consoles. I can't remember the handheld games and games on other systems.

Also, I think the gameboy game with the American Godzilla was based on the American Godzilla cartoon show that came out shortly after (not to be confused with the OLD Godzilla cartoon show).

Needless to say, both cartoon shows were far superior to the abomination that was that terrible film featuring that scar upon the face of cinematography that was Zilla.

No, seriously, they were actually pretty good. Admittedly a little far-fetched (why did Godzilla fight a minotaur?), but still totally awesome.

What is this talk of Japanese Godzilla and American Godzilla? There is ONLY Gojira... and that... iguana... thingie.
