Do you have a caffeine addiction? I do. I cannot go through a day(focused at least) without caffeine preferably soda. What about you?

No, I'll go days without any sort of caffeine without a problem.

Also, I don't feel any effect whatsoever from the caffeine in pop. I have to drink coffee or tea, and several cups at that to get anything out of it.

Things get bad when I have blood in my caffeine level. ;)

Seriously, I drink about two to three cups of coffee on the weekdays to keep a certain energy level I need to teach with and maybe one a day on the weekends. Otherwise I don't drink sodas or other caffeinated products and never after 5pm.

Whether that counts as an addiction or not...

What the hell are you talking about? You're absolutely disgusting for even mentioning soda as a caffeine addiction. If you drink that much soda, which by the way, is horrible, you have serious problems.

Real addicts drink coffee.

According to the Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine#Relative_content:_comparison_of_different_sources)regular coffee has over twice as much caffeine as Mountain Dew. Since my coffee is lethal to the unprepared perhaps that's why I don't feel anything from pop.

Tea doesn't have nearly as much caffeine as coffee or soda, so I find your categories confusing.

Anyway, tea is my caffeinated beverage of choice. Being, as mentioned, relatively low in caffeine, I don't suffer too much if I'm deprived of it, but I do get a little fuzzy in the head and eventually I get a headache.

My tea is generally a bit stronger than what most people drink as well. Generally two, sometimes three bags of PG Tips per cup. Also, I tend to drink more tea than I would coffee.

Or just go for Cocaine (an energy drink) around 250mg/8fl oz

I, personally, can't have caffeine, but my mate surely is addicted - not only does he drink several cups of coffee every day, but he drinks it so strong other people usually go for 1/4 his coffee and 3/4 heated milk and still say it's rather strongish, and he's known to pop caffeine pills whenever he's up for a longer time and can't access coffee.

Freak, though a terribly adorable one.

I drink so much coffee and espresso these days that I don't suffer any effects from going without it; I think I've pretty much built up complete tolerance for any amount up to LD50 by now.

I don't drink tea or coffee, and only very rarely caffeinated soda, so no, I don't think so.

I drink a lot of soda and occasionally a bit of coffee, and I've had a few energy drinks. The soda has no effect at all, coffee makes my stomach feel icky, and the energy drinks actually made me sleepy.

Energy drinks aren't sodas, just a relative.

No. I sometimes drink around five cups of coffee, some soda and some tea a day, and sometimes none of that. It varies (and is often somewhere in between), and I seldom note any effect as I change my consumption. Except the occasional mild, brief headache when I go from full-on-for-days caffeine intake to none.

I'm allergic to caffeine, so I can't have it.

Can I be addicted to the thought of caffeine?

I drink caffeinated drinks so much that most (Beaver Buzz, Red Bull, NOS, etc) do sweet fuck all to me. I've built a tolerance to caffeinated drinks if you will. I can and have stopped easily. I drink Beaver Buzz instead of soda because it is not made with high fructose corn syrup, and thus tastes fucking awesome.

Every day 4 to 8 espresso, plus some other type - turkish, moka, filtre, neapolitan...

no. i have a chocklet addiction instead. coffee is alright, but only when i put chocklet in it. and i can take or leave coffee any time for any duration. if there were no coffee in this world tomarrow i wouldn't loose a wink of sleep over it.

chocklet is another matter. more then a couple of days, if ever even that long, and i get really morose and depressed.

it's not like its something i have to have at any particular time of day or anything like that, but if i don't get my fix, usually combined WITH coffee, then i do have emotional problems, all the iritability, insecurity, paranoia, everything.

but as long as i can have choclet in some form, the presence or abscence of coffee don't make anything. coffee is just a flavoring for chocklet.

just too keep it from being too sugarry if i can't get otherwise relatively low enough sweetness chocklet.

of course i prefer it with at least some sweetning, but i have and will ingest completly unsweetened chocklet if that's the only way i can get it.

Well i guess i have a little caffiene like cola, or tea but some people i know drink endless amounts of Irn Bru, it's basically made of sugar and chemicals, i hear it's brilliant for hangovers. Another energy drink not mentioned is Red bull, again pure caffiene.

I usually go to work early, and sit in the car for a few minutes, and enjoy one of these.
A little quiet time, with some ridiculously caffinated beverage.

Well i know one of my friends who drank about one of those (equivalent) everyday and when he stopped he felt absolutely exhausted, his body couldn't cope without caffiene, as it depended on sugars and chemicals rather than making it's own.
By the way you must have an exiting work day with one of those in you, i'd be bouncing off walls.

well, i drink a lot of Pepsi Max, which is said to have a lot of caffeine in it. plus i drink a fair bit of tea, but never really notice any caffeine effects from it (apart from ending up needing to pee a lot afterwards, but that's probably the tanin)

Another energy drink not mentioned is Red bull, again pure caffiene.

goes great with vodka, that

Kick goes better PM, generally due to the fact it works out at a quarter of the price for the same taste and effect... :D

Kick is Tescos version of Red bull.

Red Bull ftw!

I tend to go through periods where I can't face the day without several hits of caffeine (both from energy drinks and [black] coffee.)
I'll keep on like this till I start getting funny heart flutters which will scare me enough to go cold turkey (which is probably a bad idea.)

I'll be tee-total for a few months then it'll all start again.

I'll probably die young :D

It's often said - by the anti-tobacco industry and their propaganda machine - that nicotine is "the most addictive substance known to man" or "the most addictive substance in the world" or "more addictive than anything that has ever come before or after in the whole history of the god damned universe" (depending on how much bullshit they are willing to squeeze out, and how much the public is willing to open their mouths and swallow).

But I'd have to say that the honour goes to caffeine. Pretty much everyone is addicted, pretty much no one seems to think there is anything wrong with it. It's like fucking soma.

I'm just over a year now with my kicking the caffeine habit. It's nothing against caffeine per se, I just had no sense of self control or scope and made very little money, so having a compelled purchase was too much. Even tobacco could wait until I had money, but not caffeine, oh no...
