Iphone: Too expensive or is it worth it?

Do you think it's worth as much money as it costs? In Canada it costs $100 a month for the simple plan. I think that's exsessive!

The Iphone is vastly overhyped. Better smartphones exist aplenty.

Not particularly overpriced, and my god is it slick. The contract looks worse than it is, because some of the extras in it are rather attractive (speaking about the US one here, admittedly).

I'm not going to be buying one, because it's overkill for what I need and want to spend, but if I was after a device on that level, I wouldn't consider it overpriced. Does that make sense?

I'd rather just get a Blackberry. It's more useful for the sort of things I'd be doing, not to mention cheaper overall.

However, if the phone itself was around $200 and the contract maybe $30-40I'd definitely consider one. At its current price, (to me) it's just not worth it. It's probably best just to wait a few years; by then, it'll be a lot cheaper and more powerful than it is now, and there will probably be more competition between providers (since I'd rather not be roped in to using ATT).

I would never use any of that stuff. It's not like I want to go on the web using a phone-sized screen and sub-broadband speeds.

No 3G is the killer for me.

Plus I'm not a big fan of compressing everything onto one device. I have an mp3 player, a camera, and a phone. Whilst the phone can do mp3 and camera, I prefer separate devices.

Final point: who wants to carry round a device that costs that much! You're just asking for it to be stolen.

I'm surprised that you've never been mugged and had your shoes stolen. Welcome to Crewe.

I don't want the iPhone, but the iPod touch is tempting.

I think that's excessive, too!

You've never needed to call anyone while far from a land-line? And I thought my life was boring...

Most cell plans in the US come with a basic phone free of charge. He's saying that anything beyond that is excessive. At least I assume so, and if he's not saying it I am.

Main turn offs:

No 3G.

The Apple symbol. ( I think Apple product owners to have this sort of cult-ish, snobbish air around them.)

yeah its too expensive. And the part that bugs me the most is that they downgraded from 30gbs of music to 4gbs. i know they had to make space ofr phone data and all, but goodness..
