Native Americans aren't native.

The term "Native Americans" really pisses me off because they keep bitching if you call them Indians, and tell you that they are "Native Americans." They aren't native, for fuck's sake! They came from South America and that fucking land-bridge up north.

I have news for you, Tonto, you're not native!

The correct term for these land-bridging thieves is "Immigrant".

actually, the same counter argument can be used. due to current, established laws in the USA, a person born on American soil is a citizen of America. so anyone born after the law was enacted is a Legal Citizen of America.

Of course, if Canada or Mexico doesn't have such a law... then they're screwed... :p

If Native Americans aren't considered native to America, then nobody's native to anywhere except wherever the first person sprang up in Africa. Also, Indians are from India, unless you specifically say "American Indian".

They were here first. They land then became theirs. This was the case for thousands of years. They are the closest thing to being native.

That's funny. Most of the Amerindians I've talked to have told me NOT to call them Native American, as it's kind of patronizing.

Actually though, they really want you to call them by the name of their tribes. It's not like they're all one lumped together group after all, they were a whole bunch of different natures with different cultures and calling them Native American is sort of like calling a person from China Asian. It's true, but they'd rather you'd call them Chinese, and it kind of has an awkward Comedy Central feeling about it.

The only thing that keeps this from being deeply offensive is the fact that it is too ridiculously inane to be taken seriously.

Get a grip.

Since the Aztecs claim they came from a "cave to the North", there is some evidence that the indigenous tribes did, in fact, come across the Bering Strait, but let's face it-we're all humans, and arguments like this just detract from the fact we are one race, with equal opportunities.
BTW, I am almost pure Magyar from my grandfather, who married a Yankton Sioux-my materal great-grandmother was straight from London, who married a Dutchman then travelled to Minnesota where my grandmother was sired from Sioux while her husband was travelling to New York to collect the rest of the family. My maternal grandfather is a matter of conjecture, as my grandmother only told me who he was-German, for those keeping score. I have cheekbones to die for, almost no body hair, and am a US citizen. I can freely interbreed with any of the human races of the planet, and enjoy more freedoms than most. Where, then, is the importance?
