I still say we should cut the head off of the terrorist who did the same to that reporter. A better idea would be whatever you inflict on others, you get the same.

While this thread has thus far failed to come up with anything beyond "no that's horrible eww", I believe there is at least a good expedient against it.

While I can see nothing objectively wrong with torturing them, in practise I think we need to heed Nietzsche here, although I believe it was Kant who first expressed a similar idea:

Doing so would risk the corruption and debasement of the representative of justice. While there is no clear reason why this has to be the case, in practise, people being what they are, this would come to pass. So I'd prefer a simple execution (although that to a certain extent runs the same risks). Maybe it has to be prisons afterall.

Take one and strap him to a chair and tell the next one that the guy in the chair has information. Then let him go to town.

Then strap that second guy to a chair and show the first one video of the torture, then let him go to town.

Repeat until one of them dies. And lots of pairs to mix and match.

You are the first person to actually come up with a REAL reason why not, and I have to admit, a pretty good one. You are right I guess, a clean quick offing would be much better. I just watched a movie about terrorists and there torture methods and it got me mad so I posted without thinking as they say.
