Dec. 10, 2007-- Jamie Leigh Jones, now 22, says that after she was raped by multiple men at a KBR camp in the Green Zone, the company put her under guard in a shipping container with a bed and warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she'd be out of a job.
...
Finally, Jones says, she convinced a sympathetic guard to loan her a cell phone so she could call her father in Texas.
...
"We contacted the State Department first," Poe told ABCNews.com, "and told them of the urgency of rescuing an American citizen" -- from her American employer.
...
According to her lawsuit, Jones was raped by "several attackers who first drugged her, then repeatedly raped and injured her, both physically and emotionally."

Jones told ABCNews.com that an examination by Army doctors showed she had been raped "both vaginally and anally," but that the rape kit disappeared after it was handed over to KBR security officers.

What? did they ran out of Iraq woman to drug and gang rape?

This crime happened in Iraq so the rapists should get to see an Iraqi court, Iraqi prison, Iraqi guards... -after all- The crime happened in Iraq and Iraq is supposedly a sovereign nation.. isnt it?

Throw those pieces of shit into Abu-Ghraib and let that lindsay woman make nice pics of em in a pile !!

Rapists are the lowest of the low, basically they almost make me change my stance on capital punishment.

Unfortunate if true, but why should we believe her? Why should we immediately accept the charge of rape and not that the sex was consensual? Or at least refrain from calling her co-workers rapists until there is some judgement?

The Duke La Cross team and Tawana Brawley come to mind immediately. Damn, that made me think of Al Sharpton... Thanks.

I think the U.S. gets jurisdiction in this case, as Iraq may have not been a sovergin nation when this happened. Besides, she filed suit against them in America, so that may have had something to do with it

She used a cell phone inside a shipping container? Huh, wouldn't all that metal really fuck with reception? To the point of there being no reception?

Your office building is encased in a steel box? Weird.

This has to be investigated.

If true, and convictions result, the bastards responsible will have to be destroyed. The dickheads that covered it up and probably the whole company will probably have to be dissolved, it's every asset liquidated, packed into boxes, set into a field and burned. Then we will have retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'connor piss on the ashes. :)

It's unlikely to ever be proven, all the evidence has vanished neatly.

Because someone handed it to the security officers of that same firm..Which promptly eliminated the evidence.

Why shouldn't you believe her - the incidence of rape is astronomically higher than that of women making false claims. How a bit of water-boarding on her co-workers to find out?

"Innocent until proven guilty", you may of heard of it. Though like I said before it's highly unlikely to be proven.

Never underestimate the power of people hanging on to incriminating evidence in case bargaining chips are needed to either: A) Make a deal with prosecutors or B) Provide job security.

I am talking about taking her claim seriously as Myrmidonisia implied she should not be, that is not the same thing as saying that they are guilty - the water-boarding reference was not meant seriously.

Weird.ABC says State Dpartment Agents did rescue her from the container.. So unless the State Department is involved in some Fake Rape conspiracy.. The probabilities that she was indeed kept inside a container are -I would say- 99%

"We contacted the State Department first," Poe told ABCNews.com, "and told them of the urgency of rescuing an American citizen" -- from her American employer.

Poe says his office contacted the State Department, which quickly dispatched agents from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to Jones' camp, where they rescued her from the container.

I'm not sure that it's so much US Halliburton/KBR that's covering it up, as a bunch of KBR guards at one compound. The US government seems to have tried to do something about it, just screwed up as it always does.

So polite and appropriate. That's sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell.

Oh, and next time, try posting in English, this is a forum hosted in the UK, after all.

And skip the bird flipping smilies.

Oh, but the opinion that he expresses is so nuanced and enlightened!

Admittedly, my Polish is in awful condition, but that's what I think it is. Online translation. *cough*, *cough*
