Guy spent 30k to make that trailer, pitched it to DC and got rejected. Won some indi film festival awards to, bad acting but the story looks promising.

Looked quite cool. I'd go watch it if it ever got made. Reminded me of the 'Dark Knight returns' graphic novels for some reason.
Main reason I can see why DC haven't supported it is Batman's death (which would mess with their batman franchise movie) - they could always change it that he isn't actually dead, just assumed to be but in reality he's been imprisoned by the Joker.

Yeah, it goes against what WB is doing. The idea is good. I wish I could get some graphic novels or comics of Batman but nobody sells them here.

Try Amazon. That's what I've done in the past. Even with their ridiculous international mailing costs it still comes out fairly reasonable.

Speaking of which, it's worthwhile comparing total costs even though it does mean a lot of mucking about, toing-and-froing between the check-out and the listing pages (which is a total pain). It can be cheaper overall to just buy new straight from Amazon rather than go through their 2nd-hand 3rd-party dealers.
I just bought some books through them and because most of them are put-of-print, had to use their 3rd-party dealers. Upshot is that my 20 books are from 8 different sellers and are being sent in 6 different shipments - at an average shipping cost of $11US /book (and that's the cheapest cost). Shipping cost is dearer than the books themselves.
On a related note, it's also worthwhile checking their other world stores for other-than-english-language books. I looked up Amazon.com for Das Perfum by Patrick Suskind. Cheapest available is $38.49US. On Amazon.de it's 3.30Euros (new it's just 9.90Euros).

I've got a question. Why, in that fan film, was EVERYONE fighting Robin (including Superman, Wonder Woman, etc)?

Actually, I found the acting to be less than stellar. The idea sounds great, and there certainly was a lot of effort put into the trailer, but it lacks something.

probably the old "misunderstanding between heroes" bit. :p

I would've preferred the movie show his change from "Robin" to "Nightwing" and perhaps, instead of 'Batgirl', they put in 'Huntress'.

but that's just me. :p

It looked ok except Grayson was Robin instead of Nightwing and they just started throwing in a bunch of random DC heroes towards the end.

Yeah, that started to be a dumping ground of heroes.

They've decided that all the heroes get their own franchise in which only them and their villains exist. So a Batman movie exists separate of the Superman, Wonder Woman will likely exist separate of both, etc. instead of acknowledging the 'growing' super hero 'universe.'

For a minute there was talk of merging Batman and Superman, but since Frank Miller those characters have been written at odds, so they were fighting in the movie and some exec who I assume never reads comics asked, "Why are these two great men fighting?" or something akin to that, and the two were re-divorced.

Which is a shame because with a little seeding they can back-door the Justice League in the same way they did it in Batman the Animated Series and Smallville, just introducing the characters one at a time on their own until enough of them are assembled to form the League. This allows them to do a 'team up' movie like that without having to short shrift character story (like Storm in X-Men...or anyone but Wolverine, really...)

This is probably harder than I'm making it out to be because of the deals and exclusivity of the actual movies themselves, while being under WB banner still might not have the freedom to cross pollinate. Spiderman took so long because the guy who did the TV show was sitting on the film rights...

And to add, it looked a bit too 1960's Batman starring Adam West, cept maybe angst-ier.

Looked more like a comedy. It was so terrible I just couldn't take it seriously. And aren't you supposed to make the movie before the trailer?

Funny. I thought that a superhero movie about him would be called Nightwing. When it was pitched as "Dick Greyson," I assumed that it would be a Smallville-like tv show about his college years after leaving Wayne Manor.

Maybe I'll pitch that idea to DC.

Well he did only have 30k to work with, can't expect a too high calibur trailer.

Not when you are trying to pitch the movie to execs.

Huntress is Batgirl...To be honest the Batgirl costume is hotter.

Which is traditionally done with a script, not a trailer.

Uh, no. They're two different characters.

Edit: With the exception of one storyline, in which the modern day Huntress temporarily assumed the mantle of Batgirl, but no one really cares about that.

Nobody said you had to do it that way, he chose a script and trailer. His choice I guess.

Actually it's not uncommon for small filmmakers to film a trailer to raise funds for their movies. It's done all the time.

err... not quite.

The Original Huntress is the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. Her name was Helena Wayne.

After Crisis of Infinate Earths, (where she died with Earth 2's Robin, and a member of Earth 1's Teen Titans... the crystal generating girl.) a New Huntress was created. Helena Rosa Bertinelli (who was briefly Batgirl), became the new and modern Huntress.

Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) was crippled by The Joker and became Oricle. Cassandra Cain is the latest batgirl, tho I think she's now a villian.

Well, it appears that she's not a villain again. The whole thing is honestly totally confusing and generally considered to have been horribly done.
