Romero defined the Joker laugh and all others are compared to his.
However, I think in general Nicholson was the best Joker, he is good at playing insane.

Not the best video, but it gives the general idea. YouTube's getting better at deleting the copywrited stuff quickly.

It sounds to me like they're all impersonating Romero, despite the fact his was the worst portrayal of the character. When Nicholson got the part, I was hoping for either David Bowie or Tim Curry, both of whom are so long in the tooth that the only way they'd play the character would be in a film adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. I feel sorry for poor Heath Ledger-not only has he got the Nicholson portrayal to live up to, they're doing a revamp on the character to be "different", and going away from the classic depictions.

Clown magic? Not sure. I hadn't given it much thought. I just like the parody of that era in music. :p
