This is a hard one for two reasons. The first reason is personal opinion. the quality of a movie or franchise is determined by the person watching it. I am sure there are people out there that think Batman and Robin was the greatest movie ever made. The second reason, to me anyway, is most of those movie franchises have 2 good movies and then one bad movie. The first two Blade movies were good and Blade Trinity was awful. X-Men 1 and 2 were excellent and I really did not like the third one. The first two Superman movies were good and I will not touch the last three with a ten foot poll. The first two Spiderman movies were excellent and the last stunk. The first Fantastic Four movie was ok and I heard so many bad things about the last one I have not even bothered to see it.

I suppose the best Franchise of the lot is Spiderman because the quality of the first two movies, especially the second one, make up for third one. Second choice would be X-Men because X-Men II was a really great movie.

Certainly right about it being a very personal thing - I thought the second Spiderman film was awful. Of the choices Blade or X-men are the only ones I like.

You didn't include Hellboy!

Of the choices, I'd say Batman. The first franchise gave us Ahnold as Mr. Freeze, and the new incarnation of the franchise is like 19 flavors of awesome already (despite having only a single movie out thus far).

Batman, IF you ignore Forever and Batman and Robin.

I will admit a fondness for the original Superman movie. Christopher Reeve might not have been a good actor otherwise, but he did make you believe a man can fly.

I'm going to disagree with you there and claim "Batman Begins" to be the best one.

Why not just ask if I would like to stick my head in a vat of searing acid, and not the good kind either. These options all stink. Now, give me... you know what? My favourite never did get a film franchise, which is just not cool. Luigi may have had a game or two but never a movie...

I am going to have to disagree with both of you, and say the original two batman movies directed by Tim Burton were the best.:D

Darkman
(I tend to like the non-supernatural/reasonably explainable supreheros better - Batman, Green Arrow, Sgt. Rock, and that sort.)

Swamp Thing was pretty cool.

Luigi (http://imdb.com/title/tt0108255/)?

well, he was in the movie...

I can't choose, each one had it's own bombs as well as good movies. however, I would rather the Animated Movies Marvel and Lionsgate are putting out.

Batman, because the first three movies of hte original four, and the newer batman begins, are the only ones of any comic franchise to really capture the feel of the comics, and get the actual characters right.

the x-men movies, while fun, royally fucked up the characters. I mean, REALLY messed them up, to the point where half of them didn't even approach who they were. And half of that was just laziness. I mean really, how hard is it to give collosus a russian accent? He had 2 lines in the entire movie. Not doing that was simple laziness.

Same with venom in spiderman movies. Venom always refered to himself as "we", not "I". That's NOT a hard thing to do, a simple point to actual stay true to the flavor of the character, and they couldn't even be bothered.

The latest one...
except Fantastic 4, Daredevil, Elektra, etc

Let me explain.. I liked the superman .. then I liked better Batman.. then I liked Blade.. then I liked better Xmen.. then I liked better Spiderman.. and I guess I am going to like better Iron Man.

I did like F4 and the others.. but they were no Blockbusters to me.

To be fair, when he first appeared in issues #299-300 of The Amazing Spider-Man, he referred to himself as "I." It was only in his subsequent appearances that he began referring to himself as "we."

But he’s never quite that cool in the movies.

Batman rocks — in his own sick, twisted, authoritarian way — but his movies, Returns withstanding, tend to suck. Begins was spoilt by Liam Neeson, but saved by Gary Oldman.

I’m not even going to give the honour of a review to Forever, and I will personally hunt down and batter to death with a copy of The Dark Knight Returns anyone who shows a liking for Catwoman.

It’s what Bats would want me to do.

I loved Hellboy, but since there's only one film of it, I didn't include it. Sorry. :(

I think the Batman series is better overall, but I had to choose Superman for 1 scene, where Miss Kitty tells Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman :D) 'My parents live in Hackensack!' In reply, Lex looks down at his watch, then back at Miss Kitty, and shakes his head no. I LOVE that scene.
