Here's a book that certainly wouldn't appear in school libraries back home in the States.

School libraries get textbooks that give the A to Z of AV

Junior high school libraries across Japan are about to get their first-ever books explaining in graphic detail the, er, ins and outs of the adult movie industry, according to Asahi Geino (12/6).

The author's explanation of why he wrote it is... interesting...

"This book is for junior high school pupils, so of course I don't want them to watch adult videos. That's why I never mention any particular movie. I don't want to hide the industry, but teach people about it in the correct manner. Kids won't lose anything by learning that sex is not all pure and there is this other side to it. They need to know about it to be able to cope with it," Yamashita tells Asahi Geino. "There's a message I want to send to junior high school kids: 'Don't watch adult movies, don't appear in adult movies, but learn what adult movies are all about.' "

So, do you want your kids to have a copy of this in their library? (For the young 'uns, would you want it in your school library?)

Kids won't lose anything by learning that sex is not all pure and there is this other side to it.

Well... on one hand given the problems in Japan with compensated dating, the young idols, and the hoards of AV head hunters that roam around the trendy areas looking for young girls who might like to bang for their bucks, it's a good way to scare off anyone thinking of it and remove the glamor that the kids see.

Can't hurt for kids to know what porn is. Especially in Japan, the home of Rule 34.

I don't see any benefit in this, and why would you need to teach them about porn to show the not so pure side of sex? Teaching them about STDS and the like would serve just as fine.

Well the stuff on Skinemax where they try to mix porn with stories and lousy acting.

Personally, I like the stuff from the 70's and early 80's where they went ahead and included plots, but the actors and boobs were real.

When I see a sentence beginning "Japanese school ..." I immediately think "weird story from Japan about sex."
