Safe or not safe?
It's all I got right now and I'm kinda hungry. It has been in the fridge.
Let me know, I don't feel like leaving right now...

Do you really think any bacteria stands a fighting chance against Chow Mien?

If it's been sat in the fridge, it's probably fine. Probably.
Two days? Gods you're a wuss, call me when it starts celebrating birthdays, then we'll talk food safety.

properly refridgerated?
safe.
Don't trust the chinese, that chow main was probably already spoiled when it was cooked.

I'm literally a year away from a sandwich disaster, so I'm playing it safe.
But 10 people say its safe, so it's safe or 10 people would delight in my suffering.
Either way, I'm not about to go get other food, so two day old chow mien it is...

for the most part cooked food is safe for up to 3 days in the fridge. I say sniff it....and if you don't puke..eat it.

There's probably so much MSG in it that when an archaeological excavation by sentient ants digs up your home and finds it, they'll taste it and go, "Mmm. Chow Mein. Clearly an enlightened culture."

They swore it was MSG free...
...it also had a disturbing...texture...to it, but I ate it so I don't have to go get anything else. If it makes me sick then I won't have to get food at all...hehe...yikes

No, that's very unlikely. Food poisoning only kills about 9000 people a year and the vast majority of them are children or elderly. YOu may get sick for a day or two, but if there is something in there that can kill a healthy adult, then it was in there two days ago.

But if I get sick I certainly won't want to eat, so I don't have to get food.
Sucks, I'm about to take off for a week so I don't want to buy groceries, but I don't want to go get food either because I live on an island and it's a hassle...

How do you know they're not doing that already?

Because we're still around to prove them wrong. ;)

Go fishing?
not so simple a question, but if it's been in the fridge those entire two days, and wasn't alowed to remain long at room temperature going from hot to cold, two days is probably just fine. main thing, to be sure, re-heat it thoroughly, that means all of it above the boiling point of water, to kill any bacterial colonies that may have started forming. a good idea to do with all leftovers that weren't imediately refrigerated or frozen.
three or four days is when you need to start getting skeptical. or anything that's been left out over night.
in the restaurant bussiness, where there's liability for health risks to consumers involved, the saying is "if in doubt, through it out".
the smell test is good too. IF and when, you're not too hungry to be objective about it.
(if it smells like it smelled origeonally when eating it the first time, and you didn't get sick from eating it the first time, it's PROBABLY still good. if it smells like anything else, probably best not trust it. i say probably both ways because this isn't really any guarantee, just a very general indication. 'nuking' in the micro-wave is a good way of killing potential bacteria as well. microwave or conventional, the essential thing is to get the internal temperature above that at which the bacillus can live!)
eating leftovers cold is ok ONLY if they've been kept refrigerated and are fairly fresh.

If it's been in the fridge for 2 days, no worries.

Go fishing?
I would, except some jackass rammed a container ship into the Bay Bridge and leaked thousands of gallons of bunker oil into the bay making the fish not safe. Ain't that a bitch?
The chow mien went down without a hitch and didn't come back up. Success!!!
I will fucking crawl through the internet to stab the fuck out of you if you ever have another though about throwing out chow mien.
I am serious.

Go fishing anyway. All this means is the fish come with attached fuel for BBQing. Simply light the blue touch paper and retire.

I was wondering if we were going to get an update.
It's Chow Mein, it wasn't safe when it was fresh :p
