So you've a time machine and you can go and observe one time and place within the 20th Century. When do you go?

To be honest, I'd probably go to 1969 to see the rooftop concert in Abbey Road.

Failing that, I'd love to pretend to be an intern and see how the White House was during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

In Toronto in 1945, on Yonge Street the day the Allies defeated the Nazis. I would have loved to see the celebration and feel the energy. If not that, maybe Nazi Germany. I would be truly curious to see what it was like; either that or WWII Britain. :)

Any of the major archeaological discoveries would have been awesome - like the discovery of Tutenkhamun's tomb (that's probably a typo) or a chance to see the Clash in concert.

I'd do that or go to the Matrix, San Fransisco in 1969, for a Jefferson Airplane concert.

I'd go to Germany, specifically Munich, in November of 1923. Just to see the events unfold.

A cookie to he or she who knows what happened.

Heh, I read that as you saying that going to see the Clash would be like a major archaeological discovery.

Made me laugh :p

I'd take all the money and gold I can gather then go to the 1980 Winter Olympics and bet on the U.S. Men's Hockey Team. As much of an underdog as they were, can you imagine the odds I'd get on that wager? Then I'd invest my winnings in Apple.

I think one'd be hard pushed to find any archaeological evidence of a Clash gig still remaining.

Yep.

I'd also go to Wembley for the 1968 European Cup final, Barcelona for the 1999 European Cup final, the Hascienda for that Smiths gig, and India c.1900 or so and find myself a nice country house.

The South Pacific around the turn of the century. I'd be a pirate, arrggh!

As for all those people who'd say they invest in Apple and Microsoft, when you go back in time, smack my dad upside the head. He used to have some Apple shares but he sold them in the early 90s.

1. Go back into the 1970s and invest in Micrsoft.

2. Then take the profit I've made from the Microsoft stock and bet that the 1980's USA Hockey team would win in the 1980's Winter Olympics. Take my winnings and reinvest in Microsft.

3. Go to when Google was first starting out, and take my profit from Microsoft again, and invest in Google.

4. Come back to 2007 and laugh my ass off as I roll around naked in money.

Umm, the prime time to invest in Microsoft was in the 70s, not 80s.

I'd probably try to watch the first moon mission.

You can take a trip out to Utah or wherever. I think it was filmed around that area and is probably open to tourists still. I don't know if they closed it down in '79 or not.
