GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) -- Stephon Marbury played the second half of New York's loss to Phoenix on Sunday night unaware his father had been taken to a hospital, where he died before the game ended.

Don Marbury was taken from Madison Square Garden to St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center during halftime, reportedly because of chest pains, but a family memberadvised a Knicks official not to inform Stephon Marbury at the time.

I don't know - I'd be pissed. I'm most surprised a family member was the one who told them not to inform Marbury. I mean, screw the game, right? Just a guess - he probably would have rather spent some time with his dad before he died.

It's really sad. What a blow to hear that he was taken and then died without your ever knowing while you were playing a game.

I won't try to guess their family dynamic, or the circumstances of the occurrence.

But I would be pissed. *nod*
