Personally, I'd love to go to Europe: France, U.K. or Italy. Maybe go to a third world country and volunteer, if I still was into that kind of thing.... or just swing over to Québec.

Provence, Florence, Rome, Paris, Prague... For a week or two.

Those are not at all the vacation spots I would chose if the question was "If you could go anywhere", period. But I've never been much of a fan of the 4-weeks-across-Australia honeymoon trip. I'm all for the trip, but not as a honeymoon. [/romantic]

Down the pub.Such the romantic. :fluffle:

Edit: Normandy would also be great. Or the Bretagne. Or the Irish west coast. Or Amsterdam. Or Stockholm maybe? Siena definitely.

That was only an example (a former co-worker did that), it's not like that's the typical German honeymoon. :p I was just trying to say that I have a billion far away dream destinations where I'd want to go for several weeks - but for a honeymoon I'd go with the cozy and classic.

If I could go anywhere I think I would just go on a journey around the world. Or if that were to costly to the classical locations (venice, paris, ...), or something a little bit more adventurous, I guess it would also depend on my wife and the money we had.

Personally I would rather go to Italy, so I could see some football matches and check out the Italian night life.

We lived in Colorado for a few years, but never really took advantage of the mountains.

What? It's true, to someone living around the Rockies or the Sierra Nevada, the Appalachians just seem more like hills than mountains.

Is the fact that they were the size of the Himalayas in the Triassic period any consolation?

Argh. Practical me has trouble answering this question. I'm halfway planning my wedding right now, knowing that no one in my family can help me pay for it so it will be a very small affair.
But if money were no object, I would go to do the Greece and Italy tour. No one would want to travel with me because they would feel the need to kill me after reading the inscriptions on the twenty-fifth tomb of the day.

if cost were no object, probably japan or switzerland. then migrate to new zealand or some such place to settle down perminently.

in niether case would i head for the more toursity places either. in japan i would head for the north island, or else somewhere near the central mountainous area of the main island, possibly arround the national park in nikko, though at any rate, wherever we went, preferably it would be in the off season. off seasons are the best time to go anywhere of course. in switzerland of course i would head for zermat, which is, as i understand it touristy, but local touristy. where local people of mostly normal income go, as opposed to san moritz or grendelvald, which are internationaly over rated jetset watering holes.

in any case, i would much prefer the final hundred or more miles to arrive at the designated destination, to be by train.

of course simply riding one or more nights in a railway sleeping car might be a fine honnymoon in and of itself. depending i suppose on the train, and the part of the world.

My ex and I went to San Francisco. It really is a very good honemoon destination. It's a beautiful, cosmipolitan city with lot's of great restaurants, theaters, parks, museums and a lot of history. And, since most honeymoons are not spent experiencing all these things and the participants seldom leave the hotel except to eat, who cares?

This assumes you have the money for it. When I get married, I almost certainly won't. Our honeymoon will be going to the local liquor store;)

Call me nuts, but I want to stay home.

When I get married, I don't want to start it off with some big vacation which puts you into an artificial situation instead of actually getting used to living together. Not to mention adding to the big expense that a wedding is to begin with.

Save the romantic getaway for an anniversary.
