Battlefront 3!?

Has anyone heard any news about it? I could only get a few pieces of information about it and none of it was about what they were improving. I know I would like to see the addition of more characters and for them to bring back Bespin and Rhen Var. Does anyone have any other suggestions to add for Battlefront 3?

The NCC-1701-D?
what is that? some kind of droid?
I thought they should add Durge, Poggle, Dash, Mara Jade, Greedo, maybe Jar Jar and that Naboo Capitan guy.

This game was confirmed to be in development on several occasions in various interviews with LucasArts personnel. So it’s no big surprise that this game is on this list. Added to that, this is the dream game of 2008 (if it doesn’t make a surprise, late 2007 appearance). There hasn’t been another game I’ve looked forward to as much as this one. It’s not even because it’s Star Wars, but because of what the Battlefront series has established. Unlike EA’s money-milker Battlefield series, LucasArts’ Battlefront has a lot of heart and a lot of scope. Battlefront 2 was leaps and bounds better than its predecessor. But Battlefront 3 has an entirely new playground to work with, and the battles can now extend from the mere 32 player battlefield, to amazing 64+ player warzones. Also, flying vehicles and ground assaults happening in the same battle can now make a return thanks to the powerhouse capabilities of the Xbox 360 and PS3. But then again, this is assuming Free Radical plays their cards right. Still, the Xbox version of Battlefront 2 showcased amazing battle encounters for a console, but Battlefront 3 will have an even bigger take on the famed Star Wars battles. This just may be the game to beat for 2008.

It’s a spaceship flown by bald men.

And a joke.

Lol. I think it would be funny to have him. Maybe just as a minor character, but I think it would be satisfying just to kill him.

I'm not getting into a Vs. Debate. That stuff is old and tiresome. I happen to feel that Star Trek is superior to Star Wars in terms of quality, enjoyment, and the meaning it has on our lives. I was simply sharing my opinion.

Actually, the starship designs in Star Wars were better. I can't help but look at the Federation designs and think that some luxury cruise liner design firm was behind it.

Star Wars ships actually had the military look.

I think the US government should build a star destroyer.... The very appearance of those things is intimidating!

Well, see, thing is, Starfleet isn't really a military organization. It has the hierarchy of one and does serve a defensive purpose for the Federation, but it's main mission is exploration and scientific discovery.

Besides, I've always preferred a non-stark military look. I don't like Star Wars ships designs. They look awful to me.

Well, you see, you could refit pleasure ships into wartime use, but that doesn't mean that make good wartime ships. The Queen Mary was a decent troopship and cargo carrier in her time as a convoy vessel, but she had nowhere near the survivability of say, a heavy cruiser of the time period. The same problem applies to Starfleet.

Sure, you can make science vessels and whatnot, but never making any pure military vessels despite the real and present threat of unfriendly species (the early Klingon/Federation conflict, Romulan Empire and even the Borg) seems to be the kind of daft thinking that belongs to naive dolts who promptly get crushed by more pragmatic minded neighbors.

Even Canada, or heck, Switzerland, keeps a fairly capable military that doesn't consist of repurposed civilian assets.

You probably want to look at the Mon Calamari (I always get a fit at the name. A race of fried squid? :p ) designs. Their ships are mostly luxury craft and reflect this with a lot of smooth curves and such. But still possessing a central large body with engines properly shielded inside the hull unlike the Federation "shoot me! I'm bright blue!" nacelles.

Why am I getting into this?

Because the conversation is like a singularity. It pulls you in without hope of escape. :p

EVE is better than both of those. See, EVE has THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNu7vmSNHWU)!

Anyway, dumb question, are any of the Battlefront games on the PC?

I agree with you in totality... they are so bad looking it is crazy-awesome (bad in a connotedly positive way).

I want one so bad, and not jsut because it would garauntee me a position as the leader of the world (what modern weaponry could come close at all, in any sense, to an orbiting SD? I assume we are talking Imperial Mark II-not that it makes a hurge difference for the scope of my comment....)

Anything from Victory I to Executor Class would do just fine....

Except that despite the main science purpose of the vessels, their weaponry is quite good. Plus there ARE pure military vessels in Starfleet...that's what the Defiant-class is, after all.

Think of Federation starships as armed scientists...like a whole bunch of Gordon Freemans.

And think of Starfleet as a quasi-military organization...a sort of odd combined thing that has no real equivalent in our world. It's both a military and a scientific exploration organization. It serves both purposes, and it obviously does so pretty well considering it managed to defeat the Dominion, the Borg, and other races many times.

You probably want to look at the Mon Calamari (I always get a fit at the name. A race of fried squid? :p ) designs. Meh. I'm not about to argue on that line. Different technology means different requirements.

It seems that way.

Please note, by the way, I'm mainly just spinning my own opinions about the subject. It's subjective in any case...what appeals to one person won't appeal to another, and so on and so forth. Due to our different tastes different things appeal to us. This is only natural.

I respect your opinions, though. I simply disagree with them, that's all.

I'll stop mucking up this thread though. Not a whit of actual game discussion has occurred yet.

I don't mean to be a jerk, but the Executor was the personal ship of Lord Vader. The class of ship was a "Super Star Destroyer" (others of note would be the Lusankya, the Iron Fist, and the Knight Hammer).

An Eclipse would also do nicely... heck a Carrack-class light cruiser would be nice!

I won't settle for anything short of the Katana Fleet.
