Evel Knievel is dead
Legendary US daredevil Evel Knievel has died at the age of 69, his granddaughter has said.
Knievel had suffered ill-health, including diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis - an incurable lung condition - for several years.
He underwent a liver transplant, after nearly dying of hepatitis C, in 1999.
Knievel gained cult status performing death-defying stunts in the 1960s and 70s, including an attempted motorcycle jump over Snake River Canyon in Idaho.

This is his ultimate death defying stunt. He is currently locked in battle with the Grim Reaper.
Wow, so /b/ wasn't lying.

Best kind of celebrity there is: He entertained, burned the candle at both ends, pumped out some kids to continue the legacy, told awesome stories for a while from his wheelchair and then kicked the bucket at a reasonable age.
I hope I am so lucky. :)

You forgot to mention the time where he attacked his former publicist Sheldon Saltman who had written a none-too-flattering book about Evel and his family. Despite having both arms in plaster he attacked Saltman with a baseball bat and was jailed for six months.

"Enjoy" is surely ironical. The "ignore" should not be flaunted, nor used as a punishment. It exists to protect, not to punish.
There are better ways to say you are done talking to someone. Plucking out one of your own eyes is an over-reaction. And yes, I am saying that putting another on the "ignore" list is plucking out one of your own eyes.

Material. Comedians need material.
All tragedy and glory are fleeting. Memories are maintained for a while, gradually seperating into (A) Tragedy, we must never forget, (B) Glory, we must never forget, and (C) Comedy, you had to be there at the time.
Of these, the most permanent is the one which has the most respect for time.

Evel Knievel was a career criminal evincing the type of bravado that appealled to children. I can't believe he received such light sentencing for his various crimes.
As for some of the comments on Steve Irwin, compare these. Irwin took time to engage in a search and rescue effort which saved someone's life. Knievel got a friend to hold someone down while he repeatedly assaulted them with a metal baseball bat. Who's the "retard"?

Yes, (C). You had to be there at the time. Kneivel made quite an impression on me ... when I was ten. His stunts always seemed to fail as if they were meant to, a kind of death-defying Jackass.
I haven't thought about him in years, in fact if asked I would have guessed he was already dead. I should care more but I don't really, 69 is a fair run for a guy who took so little care.

There are three types of people in this world:
When somebody lies about you in a book you:
A. Sue them and try to squeeze as much money as possible out of them
B. Don't care and live your life like nothing happened
C. You get a friend and beat the hell out of the guy with a bat.
Evel just happened to fit in group C. I don't blame him either, from what I heard they were really trashing him and his family. Someone who profits of the suffering of others deserves a few good whacks with a bat. Once that stuff gets printed there is no turning back.

Click on the user's name next to a post by them. One of the options is "view public profile." On the right of the profile is a button to add them to your ignore list.
There might be an easier way, but I've never done it.
