Some people beleive that conservatives are mainly conservatives because they're unhealthily obsessed with sex and that sexuality is indeed the driving force for their beliefs in general. If so that'd mean that this whole culture war is over whose form of kinkiness is better, the eccentric lefties or the uptight righties.

I wouldn't put it that...vulgarly, but you're right, at least in the US conservatives seem to be obsessed with the subject. Coupled with the recent revelations of homosexual anti-homosexuals, it seems that the right-wing is a club for closet gays.
