Where is home?
I often wonder, where do you call home?? I read a political thread such as the responses to "change one thing about your country's history" but alot of posters (like myself) don't say their actual place of residence due to their in character play. I am listing as many as it would let me, but please respond with your home country...

England, although I would have prefered United Kingdom. People often get those two mixed up, bizarrely.
If the OP did mean England, I apologise.
And I imagine that someone else would have prefered something else to UK.

Given General is usually out of character, HOWEVER my location still reads "There was once a dream that is Danmarc" regardless of which thread I am posting on... thanks for your input..

Uh...considering that many people posting in General have otherworldly, fantastical or theoretical places listed as their particular plane of existence, I fail to see your point. But hey, that happens a lot, and probably isn't your fault.

I live in the town with the world's largest resort and casino (Foxwoods). That's located in Ledyard, Connecticut, USA.
In before somebody else makes it a charm: Home is where the heart is.
In other news, I call quite some places in several countries my home (but, note the subtle difference, I don't call any country in and of itself my home). My own flat, my best friend's flat and my parents' house are all homes in Germany; my USAian mother's place I still consider my home, too, and a certain spot in Spain will probably for a long time remain 'home' to my mind even though I haven't been living there for quite some years now.

It's hardly a "vacuous notion", what with it existing for the last 300 years. I'd probably have said "UK" were it an option on the poll.
It is now. There is little value or merit to the United Kingdom now; it exists only because nobody has sufficient spine to fully dismember it.

I can't say I really agree with that being true. A few Scottish members of this forum have stated recently that there isn't much will in Scotland to go independent.

It’s safe to say that in Wales and Scotland, there is only a very small minority of people who want complete independence from the UK. NI is obviously a different matter, though I doubt there’s many there who want NI to be a sovereign nation separate from both the UK and Ireland.

I think you're probably right, but then I also think that the numbers are skewed because such a large slice of the population simply doesn't give a shit, as long as their soaps schedule doesn't get messed up.
It'd be very interesting to know just what percentage of the politically-aware population were in favour of full independence and, of course, why.:p

I think I only feel truly ‘at home’ in certain places in Scotland (especially Glasgow and up north, around Speyside) as, sadly, I haven’t managed to wangle lengthy stays in foreign climes.
That said, I certainly felt I was in a place I could happily call home when I visited Berlin, but I’d have to stay there longer to be sure.
And brush up on me Deutsch.

I think the amount of people who are completely politically apathetic is a lot smaller than what’s usually envisioned.
Yes, a lot of people don’t give two hoots about what’s happening in Westminster or Holyrood, but I think you’d find it hard to come across an individual who has no opinions or interest in politics whatsoever. Most, I’d wager, have opinions on general political topics, even if those opinions are rather vague and/or uninformed to a large degree.
As too what ‘politically aware’ folks would think about independence, I’d say the same trend applies; pro-independence folks are in the minority.
