Having just eaten some leftover pumpkin pie, I felt compelled to make a poll: What is your favorite kind of pie?

Pumpkin at Thanksgiving, of course.

In summertime, apple and blueberry. Sometimes pecan.

Luckily for you, all four are included in the poll. ;)

Not a bad list, and you remembered key lime. :p

Just barely. I was having troubling thinking of a ninth pie, and had to look at the list on Wikipedia's "Pie" article. :D

Mint cream pie. Basically it's Oreo crust, lots of Cream de mint mixed in with marshmallow, and a mint on top. Anything less is for failures.

So, does "pie" in American English only refer to sweet/dessert pies? What do you call savoury pies?

Some people call them casseroles but they are not, they are more like crap.

Pot Pies.

Pot Pies is actually a specific kind of savory pie that consists of meat(turkey, chicken or beef), in a thick stew-like gravy with vegetables either inside or topped with a pie crust. There are a few variants, but the name 'pot pie' has been stuck to them even though they're not technically pot pies.

In the U.S.A., 'Pie' refers to dessert pies. Except maybe in New York where it can also mean pizza. :p

first of all shepherds pie is delicious, as is cumberland pie (its variant)... and secondly neither of them are actually pies. as in they don't have crust or a pie top

"Pot Pies" FTW!

my particular reason is that I don't mix my food. I eat one thing at a time all the way and then another. If my corn touches my mashed potatoes, I don't eat the piece of corn or the small bit of mashed potatoes that has been contaminated.

dishes that mix things.....well, I don't eat most of them. Lasagna is okay, some soups are okay, and I will eat chili on occasion but mostly I am disgusted by the "lets put everything in a bowl and call it food" thing.

Try the gulf coast of Florida. There was a restaurant there that had the best key lime pie I ever had(can't remember the name of the restaurant). It is so good, I got the recipe and I use it to make my own. :)

a) the more savory option. Cottage pie, anyone?
b) mince pies.

i'd say mixing things is where you get the best flavours from. but then i'm the total opposite, especially with things like roast chicken/turkey. i have to have on my fork a bit of chicken, a bit of stuffing, a bit of potato, some peas/sweetcorn, and some gravy... if i don't have all that mix of stuff on my fork then its just somehow not good. i can't explain it :P

3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510 to 50 decimal places.

It's hard to eat though, because it is irrational.
