I loved playing Go Fish, Skip-Bo, and Pokémon as a kid.
I still have a pack of cards (Iraqi Most Wanted), but I never use them.

I sure don't. :(
But I used to, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Seems the only use for cards nowadays is gambling. I mean, you can gamble on anything, even Go Fish or UNO if you want to, but you get the idea: games designed specifically for the purpose of gambling, rather than social games that are played to have fun, socialize and strategize, have taken over.
So I ask: Do you ever actually get together with friends and a pack or two of cards and play? What games do you enjoy? Do you gamble a bit, or just play for fun?
I'll post a poll of favorite games. :)
i strongley object to this poll on the grounds taht it doenst have Teaxas-Hold 'Em

I went with non-gambling games, to see if anyone still plays them. Check out the OP (or second one now). ;)

Any game in particular?
I've discovered that all of the games I play often have names that most english-speaking countries wouldn't assign to them.
For example, there's 'snyd' (I think 'bullshit' might actually be a translation here). Then there's 'stress' or 'hurtig marie', but it seems that the rules vary a lot here (although the basic idea remains the same - get rid of all your cards).
Well, I suppose I play the occasional blackjack and poker.
Edit: actually, I do play fish once in a while.

I play rummy and Pokemon occasionally but it's a bit hard to find people willing to play, particularly for the latter.

Hearts, spades and Chinese poker (A.K.A Big 2)
I kick some serious ass at big 2, although I have never bothered playing for money...

I play cards a lot with friends and family, Gin Rummy, Go Fish, and I also play Solitaire. We play board games too (Senet, Chess, etc). In that respect I'm old fashioned. I dont think computerised games can ever replace those.

Don't know the second one (though can guess what it is :p), but the others are good. I like bridge and hearts, and also create card games with a friend and then teach others, and the game where one person creates a rule set and the others have to play and figure out the rule at the same time, 'tis good fun :) I also like poker (generally we play hold 'em), but don't actually bet real money just chips.

I love card games, and games in general.
With standard card decks, I regularly play poker (usually Texas Hold 'em), rummy, shithead, spit, hearts and a few others.
As for non-standard card decks, Uno, Fluxx (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/258) and Lunch Money (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/228) are my favourites. Especially Fluxx. One of the best card games ever devised.
Oooh, and I do have the odd couple of packs of Top Trumps lying about.
Kemps is my favorite game by far. We cheat and talk, so we have some pretty elaborate codes going on.
It usually involves some sort of sexual slur. A common one for my most common rival involves me partaking in the services of an over aged prostitute hailing from a small pacific island.

I play hearts and pinochle, though I don't gamble on either game.
If I'm gambling, though ... I play a mean blackjack.

I don't play as much as I used to, which is a shame.
I voted bridge because it's the nearest thing to Five Hundred (think 10-card bridge with simpler scoring), but Hearts is a good game for three or four too.
Cheat is a fun game when you've had a few drinks and no-one can count cards.

We play some stuff at summer camp, but during the year, not much.
I play cards all the time... usually with the computer, but sometimes with other people.

Oh man, I play cards EVERY DAY at lunch. We play Capitalism, Egyptian Rat Screw, Black Jack, and Mau among others. I didn't see those as options though:(

I can't stand card games, which annoyed my Army buddies to no end. In the Army everyone plays spades, except the Michiganders who play Euchre. Of course, there would always seem to be 3 other Michiganders around who wanted to play Euchre, and would beg me to come play.

Indeed not. Perhaps because Teaxas- Hold 'Em is a game only you seem to be familiar with. Texas hold'em is a game I am familiar, and, to no small degree, bored with, but not what you suggest.
I still play whist, generally contract or partner, cribbage and gin rummy, although this tends to be on family holiday's when it is considered rude to smoke my hangover off all day, and then frequent another local bar in the evening.

Spoons (Forks for even more hilarity)Another awesome game. We should try it with forks.
