Have you ever had a Jack Daniels kind of day?

So, let me preface my story with saying I don't drink much. The last time I had alcohol was at the reception for my great uncle's funeral (2 shots of Jack Daniels) a couple of weeks ago. The time before that, was at my grandmother's funeral (1 shot of Jim Beam, and 1 shot of Jack Daniels) a couple of months ago. Before that, I can't even remember the last time I had any alcohol (it was at least a year, if not two years).

So, yesterday I had to work at a post office I don't normally work at (only been there 3 times, to be exact), on a route I've never done before. I had to get up at 5:20 AM, stopped on the way to get something to eat, arrived at the post office at 7 AM, and worked (without a break) casing mail until 2 PM. I ended up with about 15 trays of mail (which is more than I've ever had in my almost year and a half of working for the post office), and I started delivering. I ended up getting lost on the route numerous times (the turn-by-turn directions were wrong), and it took me 4 hours to deliver the route (one of the people there said it shouldn't take any more than two and a half hours). On top of getting lost, I had a massive sinus headache that got worse as the day got longer. I ended up finishing the route about 6 PM (still without a break), and headed back to the post office, where there was only 2 people waiting for me (I'd missed the outgoing mail truck, so one of the supervisors had to wait in order to take my outgoing mail personally to another office, and then there was the person waiting to lock up). I ended up clocking out at 6:18 PM (11.3 hours of non-stop work, and no food in my stomach besides what I ate that morning), and driving the 30 minutes home (all backroads, no highway), almost hitting a deer along the way. Due to the kind of day I had, I ended up stopping at the local liquor store on the way home, to pick up a bottle of Jack Daniels. My roommate laughed and said, "Who are you, and what have you done with Steve?" when he saw the bottle, as he knows I don't drink much.

So basically what I want to know is, have you ever had a Jack Daniels kind of day, and how big was the hangover the following day?

JD is good but a bit too expensive for my usual budget. "Jack Daniels kind of a day" is norm to me though - at least twice in a week. I just drink cheaper boozes than the mentioned whiskey.

I'm more of a red wine or gin man, but yes, I regularly have what I call "Bernard Black" days where I sit in my uni room, kitchen or bar, and drink, smoke and read.

Life is good on such occasions.:)

I am about to head over to have Thanksgiving lunch with my inlaws......and btw my husband is at work, so I am going over there without my big rock of protection.

Wine with lunch FTW!

Me too.

My inlaws keep a stock of late-harvest Riesling. I'm looking forward to it despite the promised appearance of two batty old ladies and both members of a recently divorced couple. Awkward? Only until the end of my second glass. :)
