Of course I'm materialistic, and not guilty about it at all. The whole human race is, at a basic level, materialistic, because possession of resources means you get to live, hopefully well, and lack of resources means you live miserably and then die.

I own a robot that vacuums my floors. There is nothing better than obscene rampant materialism IMHO. GO United States! YAY!

Hehe...some of my friends and I made an early Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, and there was sufficient food that someone could gorge themselves to the tune of 4 or 5 pounds of food without even touching the 23 pound turkey. It was delicious.

I am as materialistic as anyone - but I will gladly part with additional money specifically to avoid a clusterfuk crowd like that.

I have, but usually as one of the people working through it. Here's one of my stories. I worked at Wal-Mart (in electronics) when the Nintendo 64 came out. We had adults RUNNING through the store to get to the electronics department in time to get one. I ended up having more than my department manager (he was at one register, and I was at the other), and he ran out. He ended up taking a few of them from my pile (I think he took 3), and when I sold the last one, I had people swearing at me for letting him take them. I explained that all complaints could be directed to the department manager, and they demanded I call him immediately. I called over to him, and he informed me that he heard the entire conversation. They demanded to talk to the store manager, who was called, and she informed the customers that the department manager would handle it.

I was laughing on the inside the whole time. :D
