Moral Dilemma

This has been bothering me for quite some time, and I think it's time we clear up something.
I've been accused of eating my lunch backwards! My own father has levied this accusation against me! Twice in the passed couple of weeks we ate lunch together at Tim Hortons and he said I was eating my lunch backwards. I believe I wasn't.
Here's the lunch:
1 large toasted BLT on a whole wheat bun
1 cream of broccoli soup
1 medium coffee double sugar
1 medium coffee double cream
We were sharing the soup and sandwich since it was cheaper that way. We could eat lunch for $10 CAD for the two of us.
Now here's where the problem arises. I ate my sandwich half first then ate some soup. My dad ate soup then the sandwich. Who was eating their lunch backward? I say my order is right because the toasted sandwich may get cold faster than the soup.
Food etiquette is out of order when it comes to fast food, so there is no wrong way to eat your lunch at Tim Hortons.

depends on what country/culture you want to follow rules in.
In American culture it's normally soup/salad then sandwich, if you live somewhere else it could be the other way around.
I went to dinner once and salad was last, to clear your palliate before dessert.
I always eat my side dishes first because they don't hold up as well as my main course, fries before burger, corn on the cob before chicken, steamed veggies before roast, etc.

Both at the same time!
Then you can dip your sarnie in your soup.

Sounds fine, except for one thing... what's a sarnie? Is that some kind of delicious slang? :D
Both at the same time, definitely.

the only moral dilemma here is whether or not to tell your dad that he is an ass.
there is no correct way to eat food that is served concurrently. its always a personal preference.
personally i could never eat all of one while the yummy other was sitting right there begging to be eaten. so i would eat some of one then some of the other until it is all gone.

It is indeed; slang (I believe from northern England) for a sandwich. You could also call it a ‘bap’, ‘butty’ or ‘piece’; although the last one is almost exclusively Glaswegian.
As in: “Goan gies anather wedge yon jeely piece, ya bam.”
Trans: “Could I please have another slice of your jam sandwich, my good man.”
Interestingly, the Glaswegian term 'jeely' is much closer to the American 'jelly' than the British 'jam'.

I don't know if there's a right answer to this. Frankly, my wife thinks I'm already nuts for the fact that I eat meals one food item at a time anyway.

I eat a little bit of one thing, then a little bit of another, and so on, until I'm done.

Both at the same time. I'd start with a spoonful of soup and take a bite of the sandwich on occasion to mix up the two flavours/textures.

And here I thought I was crazy for doing the same thing.

Life is short, eat dessert first.
Seriously, or not, eat what you like when you like and in the order that ... gasp, choke ... makes sense to you.

Soup is a god send! I've lived off soup and pate on toast for the last few weeks!:D
if your dad made the comment and implied that you where in the wrong then he is just trying to enact his power over you and you should realize that you somehow are a threat to him. Hmmmm.
If your lunch was steak tartar and gaspacho then the "get cold" issue would rock your world. For those you eat one item at a time, please don't have any of the shepards pie.
Lets have some lunch together, I like to eat my salad with my fingers and dip my sammi in my soup and dip my bread in my beer. :D

definitely sandwich and then soup, in case the sandwich is dry or stodgey you have something to wash it down with.

Saying that, paté on toast is rather nice...

If you got them at the same time, i would start with the sandwich then finish with the soup...so i think you went about it correctly

I only eat things one at a time if they're served that way. If not, I usually alternate and eat a little bit of one thing and then a little bit of the other and then go back and forth between them until I'm no longer hungry or it's all gone, whichever comes first.

It doesn't matter to me. I tend to start my meals with dessert when it's all put in front of me anyway. There are some meals all I eat is dessert. If you want to eat your sandwich before your soup or your soup before your sandwich, have at it.
