3055kbps Download Speed
100kbps Upload Speed
Considering that this would be effected by the speed of the Trans Pacific Cable (I am in New Zealand and choose the Los Angeles Server), and the fact that internet speeds in this part of the world are crap, I think it is not too bad.
Also, my upload speed is actually limited to 128kbps on my agreement with my ISP, so that explains the slow upload speed.
Using Speedtest, I got the following
492.9kB/s Download Speed (nearly 4mbps, although that was still climbing)
11.5kB/s Upload Speed (about 90kbps, although it had dropped)
It should be pointed out that the Amerikaners had teh Intarweb for some years while we were still relying on magazines for our porno...hence their speeds are 'the shit' while many European ones are just shit.
Theres loads of stats here....

speedtest.net with a more local Derby server puts me at 4202kbps down and 264kbps up.
its fast enough for me :)
4018 down from Chicago, 586 up.
Mind you, when I test this again at around 3 or 4 in the morning, it'll be considerably faster. I've seen these rates double or more once network traffic at the university slows.

Honestly I am curious to see my performance after 10 or so when our clients get off ... cause we ARE symentric (and I know we are) as far as performance goes, right now outbound must be loaded down a bit

I am betting I am hitting their cap because I know right now we have about 20 mbps free in both directions

Speedtest.net says:
with server in my country:

Download: 357 kb

So yeah, it depends.

we in the UK have it particularly bad, i think. privatisation of BT = a stupid monopoly through which all ISPs have to work.
it makes sense to have a natural monopoly to own the shared physical lines, but when it has private interests (ie keeping its shareholders happy) it maintains the status quo for profits

For an FPS, any ping over 100 is too high. If you're not a low ping bastard you're an easy kill.
