I was just wondering how many people smoke with this lovely device here on NSG. Poll follows in just a moment. I've got some "Al-Fakher" Rose flavour on at the moment.:D

The vaporizer is the way to go. It gets rid of all smoke that bad for your health, and leaves you with only the THC. Anyone who smokes, should save and invest. Theyre kind of expensive, like 120+ for a good one

No, Saxnot is talking about the shisha for smoking flavoured tobacco, not cannabis.

And a lovely thing it is too. Peach or apple flavoured tobacco usually does it for me. And a good quality shisha is a lovely smoke, even for someone like myself who doesn’t smoke cigarettes.

That’s on of the few things that as a non-smoker I’m pissed off about the smoking ban; I can’t go and smoke a shisha inside a nice tea/coffee shop.

I do bloody love a hookah. Saxnot should know what I'm talking about when I remember leaving Route on a Thursday night, and crossing the road to the Crystal for a kebab and a hookah.

An unfortunate casualty of the smoking ban I feel.

I find it amusing your poll assumes we've either smoked from one or never heard of one. Heaven forbid people have heard of them and opted not to smoke. :rolleyes:

I've smoked the hookar pipe several times, but I've never been a big fan of it. Once, I went into a place where they had loads of the things on the go, and I found the atmosphere incredibly oppressive. It smelt of the sweet tobacco stuff used in the things (not sure if it was actually tobacco, though) and I tasted it every time I breathed it in. In the end, I went home early, as I couldn't stand it any longer.

Not that I'm saying that people can't smoke the things, Lord no. I just had a funny reaction that time to it, as I've been to that place since (before the Government put in the smoking ban, that is) and got on fine.

I've owned a Hookah of one type or another for the past five years. I absolutely love it and it's a great thing to bring to parties, too. I usually smoke Al Waha shisha since that's the generic brand around here (the Midwest...dunno about other regions), but I just picked up some "Hookah" brand and it's fairly good, little dry but very high nicotine content. Knocked a buddy of mine right the fuck out, but he's never been a big smoker, at all, so mileage may vary and all that. I've been trying to find some Tangiers shisha, though, because I heard it's simply fantastic. Right now my favorite flavor is this peach mint something mix, though the Hookah brand Melon is amazing, too. I picked up chocolate mint for a friend but I really hate the flavor of chocolate so I haven't had the desire to try it out or even mix it (though, it might not be too bad mixed with Blueberry). Any flavor recommendations? Oh, btw....I'm thinking about getting one of those ceramic double-bowls because it seems like they'd mix flavors better than just mixing the shisha...anyone have input on this? Am I better off just saving the money and getting a glass bowl later or do the doubles really improve the experience?

Sidenote: Smoking pot of a Hookah is just foolish, imo. Marijuana has a favor distinct and strong flavor and simply gets stuck in the hose and bits of the Hookah and you end up with a tainted shisha flavor unless you really go to town on cleaning the Hookah.

My flatmate has one. Its banned from being used right now because the hot coals we use to burn the tobacco keep falling off and burning the carpet. I'm looking into alternatives to coal.

I don't think you're going to find anything adequate. Pretty much you get natural coals or quick-light coals. Natural coals don't change the flavor, at all, from what I've been told but are a pain to light, quick-lights....light quickly and taste like ass until the shisha gets going and then taste like ass when the shisha approaches becoming cashed.

Just get an old towel and toss it under your hookah. Unless you're doing something you shouldn't be doing with a large glass and metal and object, the coals shouldn't be flying around the room that far. ;)

There was a kebab shop just down the road from my university when I lived in France, but I never did try the hookah there. When I was in Iraq they were extremely popular among the other soldiers (the smokers, anyway) but they wouldn't let people take them back to the States as they were "drug paraphernalia" :rolleyes:

we used to have a 4 foot, 4 pipe jobby. it could spin as well so you never had to worry about a thing. strawberry or grape shisha baccy was my favourite. i loved how when you breathe out with shisha tobacco your voice goes all deep and funny :P

and the best way of putting weed in the bowl, i found, was to put a layer of baccy in, build it up round the sides (so there's a depression in the middle) and put a ball of green into that. try to compact it a bit first. then cover with baccy again. worked a charm :)



edit: and i disagree with the guy up there. there's nothing better i found than smoking weed through a hookah. nothing smoother, and it lasts for ages so you can pack the bowl and just relax for the next hour getting high. i prefered the flavour mixed with flavoured baccy than you get in spliffs anyway.

Heh. Four-feet, one-pipe, mine. Also: I tend to layer it, m'self. Shish, green, shish. Lovely. And quite an intense hit.

I smoke it often. It's quite good.

I don't smoke anything that often..but I do enjoy once and a while smoking some weed with friends or smoking some hookah and discussing the Middle-Eastern crisis with the Arabs there. Quite interesting...and I love it when they have belly dancers in the hookah bars...THAT'S MY FAVORITE.

Have one from Egypt and one from Morocco. We use them occasionally when friends are over. I like them myself.

I absolutely love shisha :D Passion Fruit is my fav. flavour.
