Change Uni's. Problem solved, no? xD If you've gone to the wrong university, do not stay. Maybe complete this year if you want to and then try and change, but if you are truly unhappy, and will be for the rest of the school year, then quit. Earn some money for a while.

I just started studying French after studying Latin for 3 years (in my 4th year now). I was afraid of taking it as a class because I'm really bad at pronouncing things, but I'm not any worse at pronouncing things than anyone else in the class seems to be, so I figure I'm fine. Plus I ace all of the tests anyway pretty much... but it's a really easy class, mostly full of high school freshmen (I'm a high school senior).
I remember when I went to Miami and there were signs that were only in Spanish and not in English... I could kind of read them but I wouldn't have had any idea how to pronounce them...

The signs here are generally in English and Spanish (in the more Latin areas of Miami)....there are hardly any places where there are signs only in Spanish....and none that are important because any sign that is important must be in English as it's the language of laws.
Unfortunatly, this whole "bilingual" South Florida thing hurts immigrants because it doesn't force them to assimilate as much as it would if the signs were only in English..so while the leftists down here think it's "tolerant" and "multicultural" and "flowers and rainbows", it actually hurts the people they're tring to help in the long run.

Ft. Lauderdale is nicer than Miami, but Miami has some unique stuff, like the Heat Arena and Miami Beach and all that.....but (as I'm orginally from Southern California) I like to compare it to L.A. and San Diego...L.A. If you're further North than Palm Beach, you ain't in South Florida. :p
South Florida = Tri-County 'Palm, Broward, Dade'.
You should try to get back to Ft. Lauderdale, it's quite nice.
Anyway, in my opinion Florida's two best universities are UM and UCF. UCF is best for your money and is booming at an insane speed, and University of Miami is just the shit because it's the awesome Miami school, though really fucking expensive. Not a big fan of FSU nor UF.

Ah, my mistake. I thought being south of the University of South Florida was enough. :(
But it did take a long time to get to Miami... but it took a long time to get to Jacksonville too... I ended up going to Jacksonville instead of Ft. Lauderdale to see Phantom of the Opera, and I also went there for one of my Latin competitions (I liked going to Orlando better, as we were on Disney property just a short walk away from Downtown Disney... plus it was only like a 2 hour bus ride...) I went to Miami because my brother was playing in a chess tournament there... it was either a state one or a national one, I can't remember...
I like USF though. Didn't they just get a nanoscience research center or something? That's what I want to do, so yeah, I want to go there. And they'll probably give me more scholarship money than the others... UM would be way too expensive. Hopefully I'll move up to National Merit Finalist from Semi-Finalist, though. :)

Math is my nemesis.
To me it's usually been something that isn't particularly interesting but comes pretty easily to me. Calculus is a lot more interesting to me but not nearly as easy... I had grades over 100% in geometry, algebra II, and pre-calculus/trig. I had a 95% in AP Calculus last quarter but this quarter has been more difficult so far.
Plus I'm going to have to take a lot of math when I get to college, I know...
Sciences are what I really love though. :)
Well... this year I'm taking 2 sciences, 2 maths, 2 foreign languages, and then the 2 required classes (English and economics/US government).

Sad. Lonely. My boyfriend went back to college yesterday, and my favorite class will not fit in my schedule.
Plus I have to climb into an oil tank tomorrow, so I'm not looking forward to that.
Thankful it's a short week and I get Thursday and Friday off ...
I think that covers it.

I thought we needed this thread. Anyhow, how are you today? I'm damn tired.
I am excellent, because I have eye lasers I can use to shoot any and all humans on planet Houston who defy me by not kneeling!

like running out of water. but its ours, fuckers...
God damn right it is. Have you noticed a rash of "they're after our water!" stories in the local press lately? They seem to come around every winter.
You don't want to trade economic depression for social and ethnic tensions and ethnic enclaves, you want to sorta out both problems...though I admit that is easier said than done.
Still, the first way to solve a problem is to address it.
Oh don't worry, we already have ethnic tensions and enclaves. The Detroit metro area is the most segregated metro area in the country.

And you want more of this why?
Take a look at L.A. or Miami...Detroit only suffers ethnic tensions and enclaves with Blacks, not with Blacks AND Latinos.

totally knackered. I flew in from NZ after two very stressful and not-particularly-pleasant weeks there on the overnighter Friday, getting here at 6am, home by 9am. Sunday I was in a race, paddling around Hong Kong Island (46km).
Monday back to work, meaning getting up at 6am. Gym that night and in bed by 9pm.
Didn't help. Still barely functioning. Got acupuncture tonight which hopefully will help with the neck tension thing that resurfaced due to aforementioned stressful fortnight in NZ.
blah.

As far as I know you're right, there aren't many problems with Latinos in Detroit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neighborhoods_in_Detroit%2C_Michigan#Mexicantown)
On second thought, let's nip this nascent immigration debate in the bud and keep it in threads where that's the topic. And besides, you and I will never convince the other.

Right now, I'm feeling great. :)
I just found out my SAT scores. My math score stayed the same at 650, but my reading score went up to an 800 and my writing score went up to 790! Yay! :D

Fantastic! Today was my last day at work for 4 weeks, I'm on holiday as of tomorrow. We even opened a bottle of champagne this evening to celebrate. :)

Can't tell if that's sarcastic or not (the tank wore me out and I can hardly think), but thanks. I'll take it as non-sarcastic.
