A question about Benito

Who the heck are you talking about?
Imperio Mexicano

Is "I was mayor on 9/11!" the only thing he has to run on, or does he actually have a, you know, platform? All I hear is "I was mayor on 9/11!" ad infinitum.

Edit: By "Benito" I am referring to "Giuliani"

I assume you speak of Rudy Giuliani

Whether or not he has anything going for him besides "I was mayor on 9/11", I want him to become the Republican candidate more than I wan't Ron Paul, Fred Thompson, or Mitt Romney.:)

I think the Italian dictator had many more policy's that he laid out, of special importance would be the return of Italy to "great power" status

we are talking about the same guy right

ohhhhh given the OP is imperio mexicano i thought he was making a reference to benito juarez.

mussolini makes marginally more sense.

Benito isn't up to much these days... having an angry mob hang you with piano wire puts a slight dampener on any future plans.

I will presume Rudy will try to govern the White House the same way he did NYC. If so we can look for a fiscal conservative with pro-growth economic policies. We'll also be in for a hard liner when it comes to crime and punishment and progressive and pragmatic policies in education. He will attempt to fix the problem of homelessness and promote programs to help these unfortunate souls (many of whom are crazy which is the #1 reason and many who are veterans). If he has the guts for it, and I believe he does, he'll remain moderate to liberal on social issues including abortion rights, the right for gays to have a union, marriage, whatever you call it. He'll support the rights of same sex couples to adopt and will push for legislation making their relationship more legitimate in the eyes of the law. I'll base my opinion on past policies and actions as they are a far greater indicator of behavior than what politicians promise to do. The past is real and verifiable and is the best indicator of how he will lead.

The rest of his policies have not really been outlined and I'll wait until he actually starts pushing them to form an opinion. I am one of those people who liked Rudy on 9/10/01 and even more in the days after. When it comes to Republican candidates he's my choice. As for the Democrats, hell I'd like an Obama/Biden ticket, but that's just my opinion. Anyone but Hillary!

i wasnt really assuming that. although i do hold out some cautionary belief that he could be.

but i thought he might have a mexican focus of some kind and his name DID turn me toward juarez and instead of mussolini

Giuliani. Who else?

Well, isn't that nice. We don't need to refer to him by name; we need to refer to all Italian-Americans as any name ending in a vowel. How wonderfully racist.

Um...I'd call him Benito regardless of his background. It's his politics, not his surname, that inspire me to call him "Benito."

In other words, you started a thread about something you know nothing about, and are not really interested in?

Read this:

Then answer it, with for example: "Oh. That is interesting."

Most Giuliani sentences contain a noun, a verb and 9/11. So I wouldn't take him seriously.... I actually wouldn't be surprised if one of his policies was 'I will sit on an AA Gun on top of the Empire state'.

Sorry to jut in, but the foreign-exchange student at my school, from Italy, has a first and last name ending with a vowel.

Sorry...

In other words, you started a thread about something you know nothing about, and are not really interested in?hmm No.

What he is saying is the he has a nickname for -Mr 911- Gugliani.. he calls him "Benito".
-Freedom of speech and all-

he is not talking about benito suarez.. whoever or whatever that is.

Benito Juarez and Rudy Guiliani are two different people.
Eureka Australis

Actually considering that under him the NYC police acted like the squadristi, and his welfare reforms reduced people to the state of indentured servants... I can actually see the similarities.... Especially when it comes to milking 9/11 alarmism and being such an authoritarian.

Benito Juarez and Rudy Guiliani are two different people.

Don't be pedantic. That was the point in the thread that it became obvious that Imperio wasn't interested in Guiliani really at all, and basically just thought it was funny to call him after Mussolini.

Of course, I could be pleasantly surprised. Imperio might ... oh, I don't know ... google it or something ... might in a fit of idle curiosity check out the very first SITE that comes up ... joinrudy2008 (http://www.joinrudy2008.com/).

Although I'm not sure this is on topic, I have to say, I can't stand Rudy. And I can't say/think his name without a laugh or smirk. The words "Rudy! Rudy!" jump in my head.
