OK! She turned the big 60 today and still is as beautiful as she was when we married 39 years ago.
So, she decided she wants boiled king crab, corn on the cob, and shrimp with lots of melted butter and seafood cocktail sauce on the side. Oh, and some Lambrusco wine for her and Merlot for me to wash it all down. Probably have either raspberries or mixed berries with cream for desert.
No, you are not invited for dinner! :p

Turkey and rice. Good stuff, but I'm terrible at mixing.

I think my mom is making hamburgers. I don't like hamburgers so I'll probably get something else.

Pizza. Today is actually an exception. I usually cook my own food or my brother does it.
According to my parents, probably chili and hot dogs since that's easy to cook quickly and they'll be at the store most of the day getting last minute Thanksgiving stuff.
Oddly enough, Thanksgiving falls on my dad's birthday. He'll be sixty-five.

Oh, no. We eat it ground with Indian rice. I mix it with dahl. It usually comes out crappy.

first of all happy birthday to her! second i had mansaf the best food in the world:D
why should anybody who'se "not invited" be expected to care?
i'll be 60 in less then a year myself, and my wife a year or so later.
of course i'm sure this is just about things to eat, what with turkey day comming up and all.
but all this idiocity of aggrandizing onself at the expence of others is a big part of the backwardheaddedness that is keeping this world totally unnessicarilly and self servingly screwed up.
i don't have the slightest idea what i'll be having for my own 60th. probably not much i wouldn't be having any other day.
i can tell you what i'm getting ready to have right now.
chilli without beans with a little extra additional hamburger in it and some of my own spices and flavorings. with possibly a toasted bagel.
and a bowl of toastie ohs with powdered chocklet, coffee, and possibly a bit of chocklet ice cream on it, in addition to the milk, for desert.

If the chicken is thawed in time, southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and, because this is a heavy meal, sorbet for dessert.
If the chicken doesn't thaw in time, McDonald's.
And happy birthday, Mrs. C. - you and I are the same age.
Oh, btw, congratulations on being married for 39 years, and, apparently, happily. That's an accomplishment.
No, you are not invited for dinner! :p
...wouldn't go anyway....
Happy birthday to her.
Enjoy your deep-fried communism with socialism sauce :)

Oh, no. We eat it ground with Indian rice. I mix it with dahl. It usually comes out crappy.
After a few trips to India [Punjab, Delhi, Hyderabad] I've eaten my share of yellow dahl. I'm not sure that anything mixed with dahl can be better than 'crappy'.
I hope you will curry the turkey...

Clearly you don't get the good stuff... We (I) usually make the mac and cheese with sharp cheddar and sharp swiss cheese. I also put in between half and a whole diced onion. The top gets breadcrumbs, brushed with butter so they brown just right.
Sounds good! That's what I'm having tonight, along with some left over pork chops.

Oh, dahl's okay. Just be careful with it.

Well, the chicken didn't thaw in time so I bought pizza dough and my daughter made homemade (sort of) veggie pizza ... with lots of cheese.

Potatoe, broccoli and mushroom bake with lots of cheese. And a nice salad with vinaigrette on the side.
Might have some Lambrusco as well, as I'll be leaving my BF for 5 days tomorrow... having to go back to Germany for a short while :(

Meh. That's another US dish I just don't get... now, if you added a caramelised onion, some chopped garlic, and some fried panchetta pieces to the mix, yes. But otherwise it's just too much cheese, sickly bechamel and overcooked pasta, usually.

This time, I tried putting some extra vegetables in it. "Stuffed" mac and cheese? Anyway, the spinach and tomatoes made it a much different casserole. Good enough to do that way again.
I didn't have any panchetta, but that sounds promising, too.
