StarCraft: Origin of the terrans

It would be hilarious if the Xel Naga being the exemplary bioengineers they are, purposefully made humanity the way it was as a joke. You know how sometimes people who are good at something they sometimes purposefully screw up on one just for lulz? I'd laugh if the Xel Naga after their return admitted that to at least one terran hero.

Do you think this is a possibility?

I think you're stupid. The Xel'Naga only created the Protoss and the Zerg (that we are aware of). Even if they did create the Terran, I doubt they did it as some sort of joke or "just for fun".

I think Blizzard is who made starcraft Terrans as a joke.

if the terrans were a serious creation how come their creation came more recent (terran history is based on human history so the terrans were around for a few thousand years as opposed to the protoss and zerg who were created even earlier) And judging by the fact that the zerg and protoss were masterpieces how come humantiy came out as such a smeg up when the Xel Naga know their stuff?
Probably because the Xel'Naga didn't make them.

Well.. Duran indeed looked human enough to fool people and is most likely a Xel'Naga agent...

So there might be some links.

You do realize that the Xel Naga didn't create all life, right?

The Terrans were Human criminals who managed to get away from the prison system by a glitch, and arrived at three homeworlds, including Tarsonis.

Duran was just as much Zerg as he was Human, just as much as he was something else entirely.

Yes I know, but I am still convinced that the human race in that game could be a Xel Naga creation.

From what I read they were criminals, fanatics, religious people and other people the UED(UPL at the time) didn't like so instead of killing mass murdering them like they were previously they decided to use them for scientific research and experiments and one was to send them to space, the ships glitched and crashed at the colonial planets.

Actually he was an infested Xel Naga disguised as a human.

Where are you getting this idea that he was Xel'Naga? Nothing--not even that secret map--said anything of the sort.

His motive is to finish the Xel Naga experiment, he is neither loyal to the humans or the zerg. It was on a secret protoss level where Zeretul discovered the hybrids and Duran revealed his true colors. How in the SC world would he have learned of the Xel Naga and why would he disobey Kerrigan and try to complete the Xel Naga experiment without her knowing and without her consent?

Secondly there are MANY SC and Blizzard websites that say his is Xel Naga.

I prefer to envision the humans as not created by the Xel'Naga - the concept of humanity as created by an ancient alien species has been overused. Can we be just a species that popped up out of nowhere, just for ONCE?

Anyway, I created a one-shot scenario for Starcraft where the player leads the united forces of the UED, the Dominion, and Raynor against a Protoss/Zerg army under control of Duran. In the intro, I established that the Terrans were not of Xel'Naga origin. As Mengsk explains "We're humans. We're descended from African apes."

The actual scenario featured your Terran army against the united forces of the Protoss and Zerg. They began with a massive, well-developed Protoss/Zerg base and a few outposts. You did start pretty high up the tech tree, but your buildings were scattered between three smaller bases. Also, you were outnumbered two-to-one. However, you had one major advantage - while your bases had large supplies of resources, the Protoss and Zerg were running low, and all the unclaimed minerals were on YOUR side of the river. If you moved quickly (or at all - I never got the AI to work properly), you could control the map's resources, and then all you had to do was wear the enemy down, since you could replenish your armies and they couldn't.

The part I really liked was the final scene. Once the player has defeated the Zerg/Protoss army, it goes into a scripted scene. Duran appears, and Raynor gets out of the Hyperion and into his Vulture. Duran goes all hyperbole on Raynor about how the Xel'Naga will destroy the Terrans and blah blah blah. Raynor's comeback is to run Duran over with his Vulture - the Vulture moves to Duran's position, and Duran dies. It wasn't too difficult to do, but I thought it was cool.

Anyway, I hope that the Terrans are merely a bunch of over-evolved apes with lots of guns. I look forward to the new Terran arsenal in StarCraft II.

*Snip*

I always go the best results by adding a trigger to each individual computer controlled player that said "Always" "Run AI Script (*Player Race* Custom Level) at Location (Anywhere)"

The computer would develop a special strategy for that map.. but it always followed the same pattern. It always worked though. For an even bigger challenge you could tell the computer to value certain areas higher than others (areas you predict players would value) and the computer will put up a hell of a fight for them.

I have actually made 2 or three campaigns using the map editor, not really related to the actual starcraft plot but fun, and then strategy tips for them so that people who didn't just want to use the god mode or cow level cheats could win them (one in particular got really hard).

I even addded incentive not to cheat... if people used the scenario skip cheat they missed the next level's mission breifing...

Well, I'll dig the map out some time, and try to get the AI to work.
