keep respecting your family's position, but remember that negativity breeds negativity. limit time with your family, and stay more with your friends. if that doesn't work, meet new friends. also, keep reminding yourself of the good things about you like character that no one else can take away from you. everything will be just fine.

But on the serious side, that's what I always felt like too, that nobody really liked me and just criticized me nonstop. I still get that feeling that people are criticizing me behind my back... but thankfully I'm almost out of that feeling now. Screw everyone else, they don't matter.

This could sound patronising but it's honestly not meant in that way. Depending on how we feel, we take notice of different things that people say.If you are feeling down at the moment, you are going to remember a lot more of the negative stuff people say to you, and ignore more of the good things. Within the family this gets magnified, partly normally we care about family memembers, and its a lot more difficult to take criticsm from people we care about.
Basically, you aren't a bad person and your family probably don't think you are (I'm only saying probably because I don't actually know your family, its more than likely that they dont think you are the spawn of the devil;) ). They are probably just not being terrible sensistive and you are probably a bit more receptive to that sort of thing at the moment.

All I can say is that they're family, and we're heading towards the holidays. It's gonna get worse before...

I think I'm exaggerating it a bit in my mind. It's my mom, mostly. My dad and my brother are okay most of the time.

Yeah, everybody gets that at some point. It sucks to go through, but it's life.
Actually, though, a lot of the time my problem was that I assumed people were just talking to me/complimenting me on something to be nice. "Ah, this girl probably actually thinks I'm a complete loser, but she's just trying to be nice and talk to me, especially since there's no one else she knows around to talk to anyway." It's funny, too, I still on occasion get that feeling, but mostly now I realize it's cause I'm pretty awesome. :cool:

welcome to my world. even before I became a belligerent eugenist with offensive and politically incorrect views people told me that. Even when I was an innocent child they told me that. Mainly because I was different and not-white so that defninately made me ebil in their lowly souther brother banging eyes.

Two books that are relevent for this thread are:

Why Your Life Sucks by Alan Cohen (self help book which helps you get yourself together, and tells you how to ovoid being a bad person)

Toxic People by Lillian Glass (tells you how to evade verbal abuse and such and tells you how to deal with people constantly trying to convince others they're ebil to make themselves feel better)

I get told "I hate you" or "I really hate coming here" every single day by loads of people, but I just take it as part of my job.

I always think people are talking behind my back...and they probably are, bastards!

3 possibilities:

1) they are right.

sometimes we get into a sucky rut and people are only reacting to reality. try to step back a bit and think about the essence of their complaints. maybe they have a point and you need to improve your behavior.

2) they are wrong.

which would make it their problem and what you have to do is either get new friends or wait these ones out until they improve their own outlook. maybe hang out with other people for a while so you can get out from under the constant criticism.

3) its not as bad as you think.

you could be in a negative mode and only remember the criticism that you get. when youre down you tend to focus on the negative and ignore the positive. so maybe you dont suck, you are just kinda depressed and it colors your view of the world.
