What do you mean by house? The household, or the building itself?

EDIT: As OP, I've decided that I mean the household.

If your household was a government, what kind of government would it be and why? :)

The household. Perhaps I should clarify this in the former opening post (seeing how you usurped it! :))

Currently? A totalitarian dictatorship/tryrany. When you have a two month old baby you do what HE wants when he wants it irregardless of what you want, or need, to do. ;)

Monarchy.

Extremely corrupt barter system-anarchy.

Total anarchy.

In theory it is a democracy, but in practice it seems to be more of an anarchy. And not the good kind, either.

Hippie love circle with a dash of socialism to maintain general order, with mandatory weed worship. :) It would be as if the Marijuana Party won a federal election.

Inept bureaucracy.

Matriarchy/benevolent dictatorship.

Not a totalitarian dictatorship - I have no interest in regulating the bodily functions of guests - but a dictatorship all the same. A man's home is his castle, damn it!

I dunno, I have a roommate, but we don't really interact too much since we're both busy and away from home a lot. When I have guests over I'll usually bend over backwards to make them comfortable and make sure everyone has food stuffs. Oh and also, my roommate's cat is a huge attention whore who always insists on being in my lap or on my desk knocking everything off.

I rule!!! King of the Castle!! Commander of the Dog!!! What I say goes and I dare you to rise up against me!! Ahhhahahahaha

Communist. I live in a dorm.

My home is a benevolent matriarchy.

Dictatorship.
My mom is like the PM. She makes 90% of all decisions.
my Dad? he has veto power. he does have the last word. but he almost never uses it.

I should have specified.

My house with my family and all that stuff, is sort of a communist democracy with lots of meritocracy leanings (parents making the decisions because, well, they pay the mortgage and put food on the table), since like, everything in the fridge and most other things were shared and communally owned, and the cars belonged to both parents, there wasn't this "his" and "hers" stuff. There was always fair division of labor, in that generally if a kid was doing chores, so was the other kid and both the parents.

My college house is the one that in theory is a democracy but is really more of the hellish lawless Somalia type anarchy.

Pretty much an anarchic commune, closely linked to, and pooling resources with, similar commune-flats two floors below and across the road.

My family home could (perhaps unfairly) be described as a benevolent theocracy.

Funky, Kryozerkia, mighty fucking funky.

"The personal is the political" -- some collective of egoless feminist ratbags.

I voted "socialist paradise"

More precisely, we're a commune with a "Chardonnay Socialist" to pay the bills.

Communist. From each according to his/her means, to each according to their needs.
Which means, my BF gets to empty ebay of all old computer parts on sale, and I get to raid the arts supplies shops in Cork regularly. Other then that, we make decisions together, and share everything.

Ahah our house is a shared democratic dictatorship, because we are the parents! Muwhahahahaha.

When there's only one voter the line between democracy and dictatorship kinda blurs.

Benevolent dictatorship.

During the week I live alone, so that would be a despotic dictatorship, in the weekends I go home, I guess we're something of a direct democracy (although certain members have more votes or something).

Well, in my parents household it would be something of a psychotic Parliamentary Democracy (in which everyone is a member of Parliament, and MPs spend their time shouting at each other over irrelevant things), and a tinge of Social Democracy mixed in, but more along the lines of the Scandinavian system where people get pissed off if you're chronically unemployed.

My apartment at school, though, is a total utopia.

You also left Cacocracy off the list: rule by the crappest.

Doesn't work well at the national level, but quite common in households.

Actually, I was wrong. My house (houses maybe? they're both the same) is a sort of rule by the people where the people aren't actually in charge but make all of the decisions. Basically, how it goes is my mother/father says something, I argue against it, I win. Always.

Currently, the one I live in is a virtual totalitarian dictatorship. The one I would lead myself would be semi-democratic socialist/communist...

I'm currently in charge of a corrupt dictatorship. It's good to be at the top :p
