The idea that nations are motivated by their own self-interest in foreign affairs seems to be, for better or worse, the way diplomatic relations actually work. I was recently reading about this, and it occurred to me that the realist idea of international affairs, with balance of powers, arms races and all that good stuff, is very similar to the idea of a free-market. This in turn made me think of evolution, because...well, I don't know, it always has.
Here's my question: do you think what we learn about evolution can be applied to how we view economics? I don't think it can, but I have another question: do you think what we learn about how the market works be applied to foreign affairs? They just seem connected somehow, I don't know if anyone else thinks so.
