We have video surveillance at work and I have never seen anything like that before. Don't think it is a bug.

From what I've read, some of them are pretty unattractive.

Blue lint tossed about by a bit of wind really close to the lens. Or a crafty little photoshopper with too much time on his/her hands.

Apropos people freaking out over funny shit; you wankers ever seen this? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANCWMHWIFhQ)

Mothman

No, mothman is a superfast mutant. And he doesn't light up, except for the eyes. And from what I know mothman(s) are somewhat agressive, that thing wasn't agressive.

I reckon it could be something far more mysterious and elusive. I think they may have captured one of them liberal media conspiracies on camera!

It's the annoying floaty thing from zelda.

Or maybe it's just a blue slug.

I thought this was going to be a video of ball lightning, that would have been cooler.

If you were superintelligent, would you be hanging out at a gas station?

...Well, maybe it stopped by for some peanut butter cups.

the unknown is the unknown, and need not other then remain so.

just be nice to the unknown, like you would your best friend, sometimes it might turn out that it is. nice without making too many assumptions that is, the unknown is certainly no less diverse then the known. (which is one thing tacking names on it puts people in danger of forgetting). diversity IS more often for the good then otherwise.

considering that the attendant watched it on the video camera for more than half an hour but no one saw it with their own eyes, its not anything real. its a trick of the camera that makes something insignificant like lint, a blue bag, or something else that the camera cant focus on look bigger than it is.

the camera cant pick up anything that the eye cant see. if something wierd that big was really out there, customers would have seen it. since its only on the camera it wasnt really there.

While the answer I liked best so far was Hooloovoo (although what a super intelligent being would be doing hanging out at a gas station in the sticks is beyond me) but frankly, it looks like a bug on the camera lens, which would, of course, be completely out of focus.

It is clearly the ghost of Bo Schembechler, seeking his revenge on the people of Ohio. Had the attendant stepped outside Bo would have sacrificed his soul to the gods of football, in an attempt to break Jim Tressel's blasphemous power.

Of course, he is constantly followed by the ghost of Woody Hayes, who is trying to prevent his holy work. They can easily be distinguished because one is blue and one is red.

Was anyone reminded of the sentient blue balls of fire from Mars? They were in a story about Ray Bradbury where it was discovered that they were sentient, so some priests go over and try to convert them. However, the sentient blue balls of fire from Mars are like "lol we found God when we shed our mortal coils - go back and help the Humans, they need it most!"

Anyone?

Anyway, it was either that, or a Vardøger. Yeah, probably a Vardøger, too.

I think it was just a remnant spirit, it would make sense since it was hanging out at a gas station, remnants tend to mimic life.

I blame society.

I think it was those damn gnomes again. They're always ruining everything. Stupid gnomes.

See, here's what happened:

One of the gnomes' sinister agents was taking candy from a baby.

He got caught on camera, so...

His gnome buddies screwed up the tape, putting blue fuzz where their accomplice was. ;)

Probably a bug or something. Glitch maybe? My question is: WHY DIDN'T ANY OF THOSE IDIOTS GO LOOK AT THE CAMERA TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS ON IT?

Seeing as it doesn't interact with anything but the camera lens, it's a bug. Now why didn't anyone go check the camera, publicity.

I really don't think it is a bug. As I stated earlier, we have video surveillance where I work and I have seen different kinds of bugs crawling on the lens and nothing comes close to matching this image and none of them have been blue in colour.

This is an interesting thought (http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/gas-station-ghost-caught-film-14777.html#comment-25999):

I live right down the street from this gas station. I was there yesterday when news crews from another station were there. You can clearly see in this image that this thing (I'll call an angel) is standing stationary on the ground. It stood there for thirty minutes flew away, came back sat on the mans car and then flew away again. The camera doesn't move, there are no other lights by this camera other than the ones by the gas pumps, it is to big to be a bag, and way to big to be a bug. Compare it to the news reporter were she stood aproximatly were the angel was. The news reporter is smaller than the image.
