I like Nationstates. Its a good escape from being ruled by a tyrannical dictator to be able to be one yourself (but rule benevolently.)

The best online game ever was the Star Wars Reality MUD. It's a shame that Durga closed it down, released the codebase and then everyone went and made their own MUDs with 2 players on each.

I voted for any game with violence, but to be more specific, Battlefield and the like as most of the people who play online games are such that the best interaction with them is shooting them. :)

I hate WOW or any other MMORPG. I play oil fight, oil empires, and galactic conquest, among others.

Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield 2? If Battlefield 1942, what server and nickname do you use?

To the OP, I play (occasionally) CoH/CoV, NationStates, Nationwars (nowhere close in gameplay to NationStates), and Battlefield 1942 (with the Desert Combat mod).

What server(s) do you play on? The server I have the most characters on is Freedom (it's also the server with my highest level villian, a level 38 bots/force field mastermind named Clockwork Cyborg).

2142. Yeah, yeah, sue me. I used to play BF2 quite a bit though.

Ive played Everquest 2, SWG, WOW...

I used to play them all the damn time.
Trouble is, thats ALL I did. Hours and hours, everyday.
Then my computer died.

Since then, Ive recorded 3/4 of an album, and will be finishing it fairly soon.
Now that I have a computer again, its an actual temptation not reactivate my accounts.
Its like a heroin addiction.
Right now, Im "clean", and productive, but all it would take is one quick credit card number...

BOOM...WOW Junkie, all over again.

I just know I'm going to be flamed (and possibly banned because of the flaming I "caused") for this, but Runescape. It has a certain charm to it. The graphics are so bad, they're awesome. Plus, it's free if you just want to play. If you want fancy features you'll never use, you have to pay $5 a month, but it's mostly free.

I used to play WoW and a few other mmos a year or two ago, but have gone off them, and gaming in general, in the past year. Though I did enjoy WoW and played a lot with my guild (completed most of the raid things, and I had a /played of about 60 days), I think it kinda put me off them for good. Unless I find one with some decent people I can get to know, then I wouldn't bother, the repetitiveness would just get to me. In the end, people make online games fun.

Aces High II, easily.

It's an MMO World War II combat flight simulator. It doesn't have the best graphics or (default) sounds, but it has the best flight modeling by far (though its modeling isn't as in-depth as Il-2 Sturmovik's, the physics modeling and feel of flight easily surpasses it).

There's just something exhilirating about diving on a "furball" of twenty-plus other aircraft and trying your best to get as many kills as possible, stay alive, and head home to land the kills (and get a nice bunch of perk points, with which you can fly "super" aircraft like the Me-262 when you stockpile enough of them). And then, there are the massive, 100-man HQ raids at 25,000 feet (or higher, depending on the aircraft appointed by the mission)... Those are a pure adrenaline rush when the last defense Me-262s, Me-163s, Ta-152s, Bf-109K-4s, Spitfire Mk. XIVs, and P-47Ns greet you head-on and buzz your bomber groups with a barrage of gunfire.

And don't forget ground support roles, which are fun in their own right. Helping out your armor groups with a low-altitude Il-2m3 Sturmovik armed with bombs and rockets (not to mention the 30mm cannons equipped with armor piercing rounds) is something I enjoy quite a bit, and it takes a lot of skill to strafe those Ostwinds (they have some nasty guns that do a number on any aircraft, regardless of armor plating).

And then there are the pure dogfights, the small engagements that test your ACM (advanced combat maneuvers) skills to their very limits. Rolling scissors, feigning stalls, stall climbs, immelmans... You have to master just about every maneuver imaginable to stand a chance against many of the players you'll encounter. And with all of this being said, it's a good bet that you'll probably be shot down at least a dozen times before you get your first kill.

This is why Aces High II is my favorite MMOG. There are many other things, but listing them would easily fill an entire page, so I'll just stick with this. You really have to try it (two weeks free) to believe it.
