A Thread dedicated to Villains

I know that Villains are the "Bad Guy" but once in a while a Villain comes along that is just plain cool and you can't help but like him/her/it...or maybe the Villain is so evil that he/she/it completely scares and/or disgusts you...

Some like Magneto and Darth Vader are popular choices so lets get some different ones in there

Who are your favourite Villains of all time?

Mine would have to be:

Liquid Snake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_Snake#Liquid_Snake) - Metal Gear Solid Series
Ocelot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolver_Ocelot#Revolver_Ocelot) - Metal Gear Solid Series
Agent Smith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_smith) - The Matrix
Tony Montana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Montana) - Scarface
The Joker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Joker) - Batman

I like pretty much any villain that uses their wealth/influence to sway others rather than brute force. The less actual physical ability they have, the better, because that's a lot more realistic and in a lot of ways more frightening than the ones who are gigantic human tanks with superpowers.

I must say New Manvir, when I saw the thread title, I was set on mentioning Treize Khushrenada, even if it meant nobody knew who I was talking about. I'm very pleased he was recognised for the incredible Villain he is in the very first post. Thank you. :)

My other choices for favourite Villains include:

Magneto

Random order:

sideshow bob
peter from enders game
invader zim
crayak from animorphs
visser three from animorphs
norman bates
hannibal lecter
harry powell from night of the hunter
syndrome from the incredibles
scar from the lion king
the nothing from neverending story
satan from rosemary's baby, or any other movie really, satan is just a good villian
hal from 2001
agent smith from the matrix
any bad guy from an arthur c clark story; he can even make cockroaches villainous
it from wrinkle in time
the fly in the fly
a bunch of vincent price roles
the joker
aku from samurai jack
mewtwo
dinosaurs in jurrasic park
big brother
gaara in naruto (I don't like naruto! But gaara is cool.)

There's a lot of kids stuff on my list, but that's where all the good villians are. More mature movies tend to have lame villians like the us government.

Darth Vader - from the orginal Star Wars

Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid - not when he takes over Revolver Ocelot's body. That's just bollocks.
Scaramanga from the Man with the Golden Gun (the film)
Sheriff of Nottingham from Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
Sideshow Bob :p

There's loads of others.

Ridley, not only does he keep coming back from the dead after been blown to pieces by the sole orphaned survivor of a raid he led. He's the leader of the Space Pirates and he's a dragon!

Vizzini! How has no one mentioned the greatest genius mastermind of all time! Remember, folks: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! ;)

I guess the protagonist from Lord of War was really good, too, but that's primarily because the character was based on real people (and, yes, he is, without a doubt, a villain). Oh, and Carnage...just absolute insanity is considered cliche in a lot of villain story lines, but that's because it's so rarely pulled off well. When you get a good absolutely insane villain, though, it's awesome.

Actually, scratch Carnage to an honorable mention, I'm giving his spot to Petyr in A Song of Ice and Fire. The shit he pulled in the last book had me literally reading with my mouth hanging open even though I knew exactly what he was going to do. God, now I need to reread that book, I think.

I'm canning my first choice. While Evil Ash/Bad Ash/Mini Ash is pretty badass, there is more comedy then evil generated by the character. I think I'll go with Toecutter from Mad Max. Played by Hugh Keays-Byrne, he manages to pillage and terrorize a town, chase down a kid and his girl, destroying their car and raping the girl, burn a cop trapped in a truck, and then proceed to ruthlessly run down a mother and child before meeting his end with a semi truck.

Sylar (http://www.stripedwall.com/gallery.php?image=/television/Heroes/HeroesS1/heroes122/Heroes1x220004550.jpg&mode=fullsize), aka Gabriel Gray.

He's a superpowered serial killer who cuts opens people's skulls with telekinesis before removing their brains. Beat THAT.

I think Zod is a better villain. I just ROFL whenever I watch Superman II and see Zod, instead of immediately lunging at Superman, just stand there and say "Come to me, son of Jor-El! Kneel before Zod!" Yeah, like THAT's gonna work. Can't you just see Superman saying "Okay Zod, I'm coming" and then kneeling before him?

Peter is pretty much the only villain I can think of who succeeded in taking over the world without being overthrown by anybody. That's like the most villainous thing possible.

I'll admit that when he got older, he turned into a good guy. But as a child, he wasn't nice.
