Yeah, I've heard of this. My uncle works in China (or used to) and he said that the government would steal the hard drive out of your laptop while you were away, take whatever information you might have on it (corporate espionage and the like), and reinstall it before you got back.
good thing the first thing I do is blow away the partitions and reformat.

Bad news for us people with comps, we don't know whether or not someone is reading all your files and important info so he/she/they can use it to hack into the company you work for or find passwords to important things and log into them as you.

Never considered harddisk encryption? Or putting files named like projects in an obvious folder with goatse in it?
