Does anyone know where I can get some free anti-spyware software of the internet? All these warnings and advertisments for Anti-Spyware software that costs upwards of $50 is driving me mad. I swear, they're affecting my computers preformance more then any amount of spyware ever could! (Not Really).

:headbang:

I would buy it, only I'm only 14 and I don't want to tell my parents my computers infected with spyware.

why?

Because then he would have to explain the kind of sites or downloads he got it from. You know, the kind of sites 14 yr olds (and others) visit when their parents are not in the room or asleep.

I'd second Spybot S&D and Ad-aware free. Also, in response to the latter part of the OP:

Remember, if you ever unexpectedly get a pop-up and/or are redirected to some page asking to scan or install something in order to get rid of spyware, improve performance or something along those lines, shut it down immedietly if you want to remain spyware-free. Those are all scams. (and best kept from interrupting your browsing by either turning off Javascript or getting NoScript for Firefox, which will block pages from using it until whitelisted. gets rid of tons of annoying advertising goo)

Incidentally, the initial stages of the search for this image were quite entertaining. But it was purely for research purposes.

Honest.

You might wish to disable the messenger service through the configuration screen. Doing that does not stop you from using msn, but it does stop some of the "download our anti-spyware now !" ads.

Which, needless to say, are always for crapware.
