Yes it is, the speed of light is fixed, time and size aren't. I know because I did first year Physics recently and it was times so counter-intuitive I felt the slightest bit sick.

No, it's not. The speed of light that you're thinking of is the speed of light in a vacuum. That is fixed. The speed of light as in the actual speed that a given quantity of light is travelling at is just like the speed of anything else, variable.
