Original Guinness Stout. Though I once enjoyed a Killian's Red after getting about half-drunk on rum-and-cokes.
But Guinness is the only one I've ever actually sought out. Of course, I haven't drank in something like eight years ...
Guinness (When I can get it draft, which is rare in Japan), that's pretty much it. Of Japanese beers I rather like Kirin, but I'm usually stuck drinking Asahi Super Dry (Blech).

Ahh, beer!
There are 2 zen parables, one about strawberries, one about cuts of meat, that I believe also apply to beer.
Every beer is the best beer.
That said, here's some of my favourites:
Off-the-shelf - Blue Moon (brewed by Coors )
Knock-you-off-the-shelf - Grimbergen Tripel Belgian monk ale
no-longer-made - I found a beer from a Carribian brewery, tasted like buttered Corona. The next week, the brewery was destroyed by a hurricane.
Fondest memory - In college, the night a 17-year-old snuck into the 3.2 bar so we could drink pitchers, then making out in the cab of her daddy's pickup until 4 in the morning.
2nd fondest memeory - After spending a long, hot day powersanding the bottom of a boat in drydock, chugging a Hinano, all in one go, then crushing the can on my forehead, to the cheers of the natives we'd worked with all day.
Ahh, beer!

I still don't get that whole thing...the style is Belgian...they even have Belgian doubles and triples, many of which are not made in Belgium...so why the issue with Blue Moon and Fat Tire?

We will now return you to your regularly scheduled beer thread.
more recent studies have demonstrated that it is not only the antioxidants of red wine that have health benefits, but also the alcohol itself. The benefits of alcohol consumption form a perfect bell curve, peaking at two drinks daily for males under the age of 65, and one drink daily for women and those over 65 (red wine is the most healthful, given the concentration of antioxidants, but all alcoholic drinks have shown identical results)
So now you know!

Interesting...however, it doesn't really matter for me. (I have a condition that makes me extremely alcohol intolerant...I can become excessively drunk or even poisoned from FAR less than would be proportional to my body size. Haha...no worries...I don't force beer on anyone who doesn't want it.
And to be fair, there was one recent study that said the cardiac benefits are outweighed by the cancer risks...however, that study had several flaws, such as not making a distinction between moderate and heavy drinking.

But seriously, though, I love beer. Cake and beer, but mostly beer. When I was in Europe, I was in alcohol heaven.
I had the best beer in Poland. They had some awesome wheat beer in some of the little smoky out of the way bars in Krakow. German beer, obviously, was jolly good as well.
Interestingly enough, the best wine I had was not French, nor was it Italian. It was Moldovian, and I bought it at a little train station supermarket in Košice, Slovakia. it was smooth and dry without being bitter. A great bottle, for only about a buck and a half.

Yeah, call me a boor but I like the domestic American pilsners (read: cheap shit) Out at the bar I always order Miller High Life, if they don't have it I'll probably go for Pabst, Black Label, Rolling Rock, Labatt's, Strohs, or MGD in that order. I don't like the light beer though, but there used to be a "naturally light" beer called Goebels that was really good but I think they stopped making it. Is Meisterbrau still available anywhere? As well you should be, but that is a topic for another day.
Busch is horrid. One of the worst beers on the market. So imagine a lite version of it. The manufacturing process of it involves showing rats slide shows of cheese.
The rats' drool is then collected into cans and left to ferment for a few days before being refrigerated and sold as Busch Lite. *nod*
Regular Busch uses mice for added flavor. *nod*

When I was in the Navy, I was stationed in Pensacola, Florida for school and then Norfolk, VA for my homeport. Both Virginia and Florida are the major manufacturing states for Busch beer so it was astonishingly cheap there. And plentiful. Many a time I would show up at a beach party with my navy buddies and I would bring a 12 pack of Killians Red or Sam Adams or Corona and they would each bring a 30 pack of Busch Lite. Then they'd beg me for one of my beers.

From my extensive research, done at many Renaissance Faires, I determined that, ales, even pale ales, while related to beers, are, indeed ales and not beers.
During the Renaissance it was put forth that ale, because it was heartier than beer, was a man's drink and beer was a woman's drink.

Desperados. Expensive as hell, but easily the best beer on the planet. Why it is unavailable in pints is beyond me.

Wow, heartier? How so? Higher density? More alcohol? Better "mouth feel?"
Beer is essentially broken down into "Ale" and "Lager." Most of what's commercially availiable in the US is a lager. Its bottom fermented at low temperature (35 to 45F as I recall), while ales are top feremented at relatively high temperature, 60 to 65F. Most homebrewing is ale, just for the lack of strict temperature control. Before the prevalence of air conditoning, brewing styles were dictated by geography. Colder climates made lager and warmer climes made ales, as a general rule. They are both beer, made from water, malted barley, hops, and yeast. Its just the different yeast strains, and the environment needed to keep them alive, that differs.
