So I find this company mentioned in a periodical; http://www.greenhomesamerica.com/

And I think - "Wicked cool! I gotta hire them!"

Then I see that it is regional in New York - not much help to me here is Florida.

"Dang!"

So, any ideas? Any google genius want to help me try finging a similar service in Florida?

I am convinced that my home is not as efficient as it can be - but so far everyone out as tried to sell me something. Some I have bought to no avail.
(insulation, dual paned glass, roof vents, etc)

I want a 3rd party to give me a real assessment. Any ideas?

edit - I should add - please read the site - they essentially do an energy inspection of your home then suggest energy-saving steps. It is not cutting edge stuff we're talking about. If you want to talk about cutting edge stuff I have much to share which could blow your mind, but I am looking for something a bit more practical and pedestrian here...

Where do you live in Florida?

This has been a mild frustration (very mild, in that I don't have the money to do anything including own my own place to start installing any of this stuff) in that there isn't any sort of 'consumer reports' for green technologies. All of these products and inventions come out, and they're happening one on top of the other, but I haven't really run across third party evaluation and product tests and comparisons of them. I've seen plenty of sites that announce the products and talk them up, but none that actually put them to a dispassionate test.

As eager as I am to be green, not all of these are going to be a good idea, and some of them will have hidden drawbacks and I'm not eager to exchange one problem with another (like corn based ethanol). There is enough of a demand, the products themselves are not cheap (most of the time), there is a need for third party evaluators to check the enthusiastic claims of the inventors and promoters.

I should restate-not that there isn't one, I just haven't seen it.

If you can cope with a significant loss of privacy and getting half your home demolished, it might be possible for you to get included in long term testing program of some type of dynamic insulation solution. EDIT: Might want to check up with your local research universities. If anyone's interested in using you, they ought to know.

Gulf coast side.... and I relocated from Northern California. I joke that I drove 3000 miles east and I still live on the west coast.
